Rated 5 out of 5 by JPerez from Battery life is incredible! I bought this yesterday because I wanted something lighter than my Ryobi 18V set (and the Ryobi are very light), to howl around when working on a MD-11 (extremely huge airplane) and not get tired. The Rigid set is only slightly lighter, but it has a hook that you can use to carry without having to hold it, thus freeing your hand to do something else. The profile is around 20% smaller. It's a perfect fit for the hand without talking much space. I was concerned about the batteries. They are so small that I couldn't imagine working all day with the two batteries it came with. So, naturally, I bought an extra 4 amp hour, which should give me time to charge at least one battery before I find myself getting a screw driver to finish the job by hand. I started with the smaller one so I could get a feel of the handling and weight while taking floor and wall panels from the cargo rear cargo compartment. That's directly bellow around 50 seats if you were flying in the aircraft. I was disappointed with how fast the charge was gone with the small battery and immediately became concern of not having enough batteries for the day's work. The juice was gone in less than an hour. Then again, to be fair, for what most people do around the house, that's an amazing work time with such a small battery. I quickly installed the 4 amp hour battery and was expecting to get at least 2 to 2 and 1/2 hour before I had to swap batteries. I started using the drill at 6am and changed batteries at around 7... That battery most be possessed, because I put one hour overtime with the same battery since 7am till 3:30pm and two 30 minutes breaks. The small battery was charged in a heartbeat, and never had to use the second 4 amp hour battery. The impact driver didn't disappoint. There were more than one difficult screw holding those panels, and beside the ones that were already stripped beyond use, it handled everything like a champ. It has plenty of power and then some! I did use the drill initially, but since it was an unbelievable amount of screws, I found myself adjusting the clutch too often to increase the torque. It wouldn't bother me if I was doing a small job, I preferred it, but I had to swap it for the impact driver because it does that automatically, and I had so many screws ahead of me. That saves a lot of time when you're working with such a large area! I recommend this little toy to anybody who needs a professional power tool in a small package!!!! I'M IN LOVE WITH IT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by PatriciaJean from I love th I love them. They are light weight and easy for me to use. My only problem I have built a porch for my mom and got both batteries down low. I put on the charger and it's not charging. As far as the drills they are great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Singlebuyer from Drops bits I have replaced the drill several times and still my drill will not hold the bits. They just drop out the Chuck after about 10 seconds. Many things are right but this is a major flaw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by amainewoodchuck from Great Tools! This is my second 12v Ridgid drill. I have used a kit with just the drill and two 1.5ah batteries for several years and have used it for 90% of the work I do...I think my 18v drill is feeling neglected...lol. These units are small and light, but as powerful as older 18v NiCad tools I have used. But, these are NOT 18v Induction drive hammer drive tools! They shouldn't be held to the same standard either. That being said, I'd put them on par with the Milwaukee 12v, a bit better than the Makita 12v and head and shoulders above the 12v DeWalt (rebadged Black & Decker) JUNK! I've had just the drill for several years and used it as a primary sheetrock screw drive, and I can usually do 2 or 3 good sized rooms, walls and ceilings, on a single battery using a dimple bit and 1 5/8" screws. Finally, the Lifetime Service Agreement puts it over the top for me. I'm looking forward to using my new units now!

Rated 5 out of 5 by dave77 from Perfect for the DIYer I purchased a similar set that also came with the 12V jobmax. These are great little tools. Super powerful for their size and voltage. I particularly enjoyed their lighter weight when using the impact driver to screw down subflooring and underlayment. The impact driver has no problem even driving #10x3.5" screws. They have great features like the battery indicator and the light that stays on for a moment after you pull the trigger which is very handy when in a tight dark place. I thought about getting an 18V set, but these have been able to handle everything I've given them.

I purchased the R82230 impact driver, before I use it see below for my intentions
I wanted to have a tool to do small engine and automotive work. I was wanting something similar to a pneumatic impact wrench without having to buy an air compressor, hose, and so on. Before I use this tool, is it appropriate for what I need? If so, where can I purchase sockets to fit the 1/4" coupler?
You can buy the sets and Home Depot or Lowe's, even harbor freight. This set will work with any socket set in the 1/4 drive range and most 3/8 drive. On the 3/8 it won't have any trouble with the smaller sockets. It will turn the mid and upper range ( larger than 1/2" bolts), but you'll probably have to break the torque by hand (loosen it initially with a cheater bar or a wrench). I hope this helps! Good luck, and have fun!
