Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall great, but hammer drill is a little wimpy Overall this is a solid kit for a great value. The saw is a little heavy, and the battery life could be better, but I love that it has a lifetime warranty on the batteries. The hammer drill has a problem using spade bits, it seems to cut out every few seconds, you need to remove the battery, wait, then start again. It usually takes me 6-7 batter removals to make it through a 2x4. Service was great, I took it to HD, they did a full run through, replaced broken parts and returned it a couple weeks later. Still seems to do the same thing. For small drill bits it does fine, just don't try using it for a larger spade or hole saw bit. I do a lot more DIY home stuff than most home owners, so maybe this is just what to expect from it. Bottom line is a great kit, for how much I do I probably should have bought a brushless kit or just paid the extra money to buy a professional set from another company.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good household tool kit (5) piece My smaller circular is too small to cut more than 1/8 inch plywood. The hammer drill worked well for almost one year. Now the chuck will not release the bits. (R86116K). He bad thing, I purchased two kits at once, one for home, one for my job. Both hammer drills have frozen the bits into place which now makes both drills useless. Since I retired to an island in the Caribbean, I am just stuck with two boat anchors! They worked very well when they worked, the reason for the good ratings. No service here on St. Lucia!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's the safety on the Circ Saw Love the kit, they are heavy duty enough for my multi-purpose handyman work on four properties & other call-outs. Just bought it, so durability gets a mid-mark as only time will tell. The recip is nice & tight, drill does it all but the bigger work of an SDS or SDS Max or floor chipping. The driver is good on bigger screws, but I have a 12v dedicated red-brand of non-hammer driver I prefer using for most screwing around. It's not noisy as impact drivers are.The light's great. However it's a flashlight, and I prefer the broader-range more stable design of other lights for use in a work-space. Nice as a flashlight tho. They seem well-made & tight to tolerances. Noise levels are very good. Very handy for those must do now jobs. The drill will get a lot of regular use, the driver on bigger material, the recip will do a lot of wrecking & rough trim. The circ saw is what encouraged the purchase, and is what disappoints. Accurate powerful enough, but that bloody safety lock bites my nose. I'm really here to discuss the circ saw, which is highly accurate using the plate-guides... what a surprise. It's got the juice to whack many 2x6 one after the other and I've yet to hit a battery-limit, but were I to rip a few, I'm sure it would require more than 2 batteries. The tool & battery are heavier than a yellow light-weight corded, but on par with most modern circ saws. What rips my nose is the safety-lock on the trigger. OK, it's designed for left or right hand users... good thought. But it take a real push to release, and seriously, a pro tool doesn't need a safety. The saw, like most miter saws, jumps when activated. This danged lousy safety makes that jump magnified and the blade gets off to a bad starting cut. It's not a good design. Now you have to correct and risk binding & kickback. There's many to argue the point, but a pro tool without a safety is just safer to start with. AND, to just rub in the salt, you have to carry the tool by the trigger guard, or chew up your battery because the light switch is under hand where you'd normally carry a saw...so a safety is then REQUIRED... needs a redesign in this area. Almost excellent. All in all, not lightweights. All in all good accurate tools. I bought them for the little jobs that need instant attention with little set-up time, and for that they'll do well. I wanted the full-size circ saw as I have a lot of 7 1/4 blades, they range cheapie to top-line and I don't want to add a new size to the mix. That safety switch will stop me from making the circ saw a work-day tool. For all day jobs, I choose a corded pro saw without safety. If I can get rid of that lock, I'd change my mind and my review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I love this set. Feels solid in hand, tons of power from the drill driver. I had my doubts about the circular saw but it zipped through a pressure treated 2x12 with ease. Only when the battery wore down did the saw lose performance. Snapped on a fresh battery and went back to work. Recipicating saw is heavy but powerful. I let my 12 yr old nefew use it and he had no problems holding on to it. The drill is one of the best I've used. But it does heat up under moderate use. But otherwise I really liked using it. Impact driver works well for driving lag bolts and losening bolts. Finally, the flash light is crazy powerful. Blinded myself temporarily with it. This is a great set if tools. And the lifetime warranty is a nice bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tools Only issue is with the circ saw. The base must be forced into the 0 degree setting, otherwise it cuts at a bevel. It appears to be binding somewhere but I can't see where. The lock does seem to be holding it in place though. Also noticed not a lot of RPM from the blade but it appears to not hinder performance. And 100+ torque settings on the drill seems a bit overkill. I mean, why is there a need to set torque ABOVE the 100 percent mark? Light switches get pushed often on accident, but all in all a great set of tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty Set I bought this cordless set while I was building steel chicken houses. I had the opportunity to go head to head with DeWalt and Milwaukee cordless tools that other contractors had. I will say I am very impressed with this set. The only complaint I have is the impact driver that comes with this set. I put a lot of self-tapping screws in and this impact driver worked ok for the first 50 or so and then it would get really hot. I ended up buying the stealth driver and that solved the heat problem. I highly recommend this set not only because it is good, but it is also backed by a lifetime warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from there are some things that i would change the one complaint that i have is with the circular saw. i wish the blade was on the other side. presently i work as a mechanical designer for M3 Engineering but before that i was a carpenter for about 10 years. i started working as a carpenter in Texas where they use saws primarily set up like the rigid saw. when i went west they use Skills. i also have a dewalt set which has the saw set up like the skill. i like the Skill set up because you can saw small pieces with ease and safey. i tried that with this saw and took off part of the end of my middle finger added about 7 stitches in my third finger. something i would not have done had the saw been set up like skill with the blade on the other side. but all in all the performance and the quality of the tools are excellent. i love rigid tools but i wish they would flip their saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cordless set I had I've had pretty much every brand of cordless tools. I used to stay away from Ridgid, because for some reason I thought they weren't heavy duty, I think I was confusing them with ryobi. Dont make the mistake. This 5x combo kit I have it just as good if not better tyem sets $300 more. Use the hammer drill and impact driver all dqy with above average use. I've been getting 2days on my 2 batteries without having to charge them. And thats them getting rotated into the circular and reciprocating saws. I barely hooked my corded saw up, because the cordless saw are about 90% as good. I'm property manager so I'm in and out of 5 jobs a day. So convenient not to have to plug in cords. I would recommend this tool to any tradesman unless you're doing heavy high framing and construction. Just recently I took up and reinstalled the boards on a 400 square ft deck to repair some leaks in the roof under it. Did the whole job with the 2 batteries on a single charge.with juice still left.

What exactly is Gen5X Motor Technology? Is it brushless since that seems to be the technology to have?

I am not seeing really much of anything on your website that explains what Gen5X Motor Technology actually is. Is it brushless technology? I'm just looking for some clarification so I can decide on if this is the kit for me. Thanks
Asked by: Serbus
Ya. It is just a brushless motor.

When will the GEN5X sawzall be offered as a bare stand-alone tool?

I've taken the jump into upgrading all my cordless power tools. I decided to invest in all your newest GEN5X brushless tools instead of the brushed GEN5X set. I'm only missing a sawzall and prefer to buy the GEN5X model over the 4X model currently offered. I'm hoping for this to be my last power tool purchase and want the newest versions I can purchase at this time. Is it possible to get the GEN5X sawzall by itself? If not, why? Or when will the GEN5X tools be offered as stand-alone tools? Thanks in advance for your response.

Hello! Thanks for the question! At this time, we don’t have a date for when the GEN5X reciprocating saw will be offered as a bare tool. However, I’ll pass this message along to our product team as they’re always anxious for suggestions from our customers.
