4 Gallon Portable Wet/Dry Vac is rated out of 5 by 110.
Rated 1 out of 5 by CharlieT from Compact vac that does the job. This smaller shop vacuum is quiet, light to carry around and powerful enough to do spot cleaning in my garage, as well as the vehicles. As other reviewers have mentioned, the hose is a bit stiff and awkward to handle. That is only a minor issue. I would suggest like all new tools, you read the owners manual to understand how to release the filter off of the filter holder. When you want to change the filter or empty the debris holder, the two latches are easy enough to release and re-attach to the vacuum body. This new RIGID 4 gallon vacuum is so much easier to roll around the floor, as opposed to the older and much larger unit that needed to be replaced. As for the durability, time will tell how well it stands up to use in a residential garage, for general cleaning. If I decide to use it for sucking up liquid, I would have to buy the special filter required. I would NOT go without a filter, as some reviewers suggest. The filter is there to protect the electric motor, so it makes sense to use the specific type suggested in the owners manual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Patriot from Ridgid 4050 shop vac- stores easily, great suction power, not super loud, just perfect for detailing my car and truck. A powerful compact shop vac that I would highly reccomend! This vacuum really has great suction power and is perfect for auto detailing or as a go to vacuum for a home or shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MikeC832 from Powerful vac in a compact size! I love the size of this vac., It has nice power and rolls smoothly. I love the optional bag to collect fine dust particles such as drywall or wood. Overall I think this is a very nice vac. with a nice pricetag. I'm betting that this will last just like my other ridgid vacs have.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Fsharp from WD4050 Very basic but met my needs, vacuuming air conditioning drain line. Compact, no wheels so rests on step ladder. Hose is an odd size so I bought an attachment from DIYVAC with different connecting sizes.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Greyghost from Hose is "Stiff and unflexable as a brick" Better hose would give product a 5, saving a buck on a cheap hose just doesn't get it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by RonnieB from A compact and competent unit I've used this several times and it performs well. Decent suction, and the size allows it to transport easily. Hose does not store efficiently, but by a little manipulation it can be wrapped around the top of the unit. Quite satisfied with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AVOldtimer from Good First Impressions First impressions - After years of trying almost every other brand of canister vacuums for my wood shop, I bought a large canister, 6.0 hp Ridgid shop vacuum. It outshone every other vacuum – it had great suction, the filter didn’t readily clog, and it was quiet! When I needed a vacuum for our cabin, I searched for a small canister vacuum with the same suction as my Ridgid shop vacuum. The only one I found was online at Home Depot, not carried in our local store. I ordered it and am not disappointed. It has the small, 4 gallon canister that I wanted and a 6.0 hp motor. It has excellent suction and yet is still relatively quiet for a vacuum cleaner. As a bonus, it also functions as a detachable blower. Construction is impressive – looks like it should last for years. My only negative comment is that it doesn’t come standard with a brush attachment and the one you can buy as an optional accessory has long, soft bristles that get sucked into the brush. If you buy the brush, trim the bristles to shorten and stiffen them. However, my initial impression is still VERY favorable.
