Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 274 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Homeowner Use I am using this vacuum in a homeowner setting. I based the purchase after reviewing a number of user product reviews, focusing carefully on the one and two star reviews. I have used the vacuum briefly, since receiving it with no difficulties, to date. The only item, would be how it holds up for long term use, which no owner could easily determine. I selected this unit on Ridgid's long term reputation. My late father passed away some years ago and left me his Ridgid tools, which he had used for over 50 years and I am still using them. I would be pleased if this vacuum gives every one 15 or 20 years of good service, but only time will tell. April 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome Very good vacuum. Use it in my wood shop and for vacuuming my vehicles. I believe this vacuum could suck the S off of Supermans chest. Awesome vacuum. April 24, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Power! Why do you get a vacuum? To pick up stuff. This does it SO well. April 23, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Wet/Dry Vaacum I have ued this product for 30 days now and it performs great. The only change I would to see is the hose is so thick it is hard to hold. Maybe a handle on the hose? April 22, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Product seems good with respect to features and power. I do not place a great deal of importance on these reviews. In my case, the product just came out of the box, so one would expect it to work well. Since it is new, I cannot speak for its durability, which I will not know for a few years. One thing to consider is increasing the size of the caster wheels. I think they are too small to easily roll over electrical cords, minor bumps in the floor, etc. This was also true for the last wet/dry vac I owned. I know that there is a practical limit to how large these wheels can be, but a small increase in diameter would help. April 22, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Filter hard to remove... I personally prefer the old style filter that is secured by a wing style fastner...The new style of filter is to hard to get off... April 21, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Ridgid changed the hose, not compatible with older models. Would have given it a 5 star if it would accept my older Ridgid hose as well as the new supplied hose. Come on Rigid, make them all compatible! The new flex hose is much more flexible, just not compatible without bulky adapters. Older hose lock was much easier to attach and remove. This was a replacement under warranty on a 10 YEAR OLD unit. Replacement was very straightforward. Ridgid really means "Lifetime". April 17, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dependable, versatile! This vacuum works just as advertised. It is actually quieter than I originally thought it would be. The multiple attachments make it very versatile for almost any cleaning task. I would buy another one, but I'm betting that I won't have to. April 16, 2016

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

If you are picking up clean water, the pleated paper filter should be removed.

When picking up small amounts of liquid the paper filter may be left in place. Please note that when the filter becomes saturated, misting may occur at the blower port. To further protect the motor of the vac, there is a wet filter (VF7000 part number) available. This filter can only be used for 5 gallon and larger vacs. The VF7000 filter is available at any local Home Depot store or it can be purchase through our Customer Service organization over the phone 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800-474-3443) or on-line at www.ridgidparts.com.

Additionally, when picking up large volume of liquids, the liquid in the drum may reach a predetermined level and the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow. This occurs to avoid liquids from entering the power head. When this happens, turn off the vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. For this reason, it is important NOT to leave the vac running unattended during operation.

Before storage, the filter must be dried to avoid possible mildew and damage to the filter. We recommend that you clean or wash the filter then let it air dry overnight. Please check the filter for holes or tears after each cleaning. The filter might need to be replaced if it has any damage.

Regards,
RIDGID

Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

The gap between the lid (top) and the drum (bottom) will create a tight vacuum seal during operation. We do not have a rubber gasket available but you can use a weather stripping if you like a tight fit during non-operation.

Answer:
This vacuum does not have a switch from one function to the other. Both functions are working simultaneously when you power on the vacuum. You switch from blower to vacuum by disconnecting the hose from the back exhaust port and hooking it back up to the front intake port. Its has simple as that.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

We would like you to know that there is no way to stop the air coming out from the exhaust port. The RIDGID® vacuum and blower ports would be functioning at the same time. You just need to attach the hose to whichever port is applicable to the job. Air will be drawn into the vacuum through the suction port and exit through the blower port. The debris that has been picked up by the vacuum should be captured by the filter. With the correct filter properly installed, only clean air would be exiting the exhaust. Installing an air diffuser (part number VT2525) would help diffuse the strength of the air and reduce the noise from the vacuum.

We hope this meets your needs. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800-474-3443) or you may send your email to [email protected]

In the previous question about bags for this model, the answer give was to use the VF3502 filter bags. However, the instructions for installing the bag on the 2 rib inlet tube don't match the anatomy of the WD1270, which has an inlet tube that is molded into the body at the bottom so the cardboard collar cannot be attached.
