Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely disappointed to say the least I literally just got this drill yesterday and used it for approximately one minute. And then the power kicked off and now the drill will not even turn on. I know it is not the battery because I have taken the battery out and put it in my other rigid tools and they work fine. It does not even have a scuff mark on it yet. If I am going to waste my time driving all the way back to Home Depot I will most likely buy a different brand so that I do not have to deal with a nuisance. I have a Few other rigid tools and I am happy with them do not waste your time buying this drill. You will be disappointed and waste time and money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT TOOL WITH BEST WARRANTY LIFETIME I own a few cordless Ridgid tools for one reason the lifetime warranty.. Yes batteries and all parts included. Have owed Dewalt and other brands.. When batteries go they cost as much as tool.. Ridgid warranties all parts and batteries yes batteries they have already replaced batteries for my drill. No need to spend $$ for batteries or new tool. Home Depot is an authorized repair site.. Yes repairs may take 1-2 weeks to get parts or batteries but its now a lifetime tool

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough, hard working tools. The latest round of cordless tools are hands down some of the best tools I've used. I own and still use a Gen 3 5-piece combo as well as the newest drill and impact combo. The only issue I had (and it's no fault of the drill or Ridgid) was with the first drill, I had the chuck in some water to put a screw in. In hast, I did not remove the bit and dry out the chuck. Subsequently, it froze. Once I got that free, it has worked flawlessly ever since. Despite the abuse I've put these tools through, they have all worked like new and don't quit. The battery life and quick charge time are top notch. The light weight and compactness of the of the tools and batteries of the Gen 5 make them extremely ease to use in almost every situation and for almost everyone. I highly recommend these for anyone that want to tackle their own projects. My father still uses an old Dewalt drill (from back when the were the king of kings for drills) and I have been converting him to more and more Ridged tools, from hand tools to tile saws.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Tool... Much better than my Ryboi drill. More power and longer battery life. The chuck stays TIGHT and great balance. And it was on sale...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Customer Service Ever Had this drill freeze up on me twice in 10 months. I had a Hitachi with no issues for 8 years. I can get past this issue, but customer service with Rigid is pathetic. I was told to return the drill the first time.. fine... but was without a drill for 2 weeks while working on a renovation. Then just two months after being repaired, the drill broke again. I said I wanted a replacement.. as I don't want to be getting a drill repaired every 2 months... and it should not have broke again.. I Have a lemon. I was told to screw off... ugly customer service. Nobody cares about the customer at this organization. I was starting to standardize on Rigid tools... but now Rigid can lose another customer in a competitive market because their employees care more about their poor policies then retaining a customer for life.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Where is the light! I am on my second set of impact and drill driver guns, and to my disappointment, the drill no longer has a light. The impact gun has an updated light which is awesome, but the drill is left in the dark. Not impressed at all !!!

why is it hard to turn the chuck on my R86008 drill

Asked by: beans
If you were turning the chuck assembly by hand, the difficulty would be related to the tightness of the internal gear box system. If you refer to difficulty of turning the chuck sleeve to close it and the internal jaws up on a bit, that is not normal, and the drill should be checked by a RIDGID authorized service provider to determine the cause. Let us know if you need any help with that.

I smell a electrical burn odor when using this drill

I see minor arcing inside while running but a huge flash from the brushes when I release the on button. During use it smells of electrical arc odor excessively. Is this normal? I just received this brand new a couple months ago. It's not been used much.
