Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid products, great value. I see some reports of problems in other reviews, I haven't had any reliability issues. I have had two minor issues, the comment about the placement of the fwd/rev/off switch does make it easy to accidentally hit, but I've never bumped it while the tool was on, only when picking it up or setting it down. The other is that the zipper on the bag that came with mine (not the contractor bag shown) was too light duty and came apart. But the tools, batteries.and charger have worked great for 2 years. No issues with the battery falling off as another reviewer experienced, and yes, I've used the hammer drill for quite a bit of concrete, brick, and cinder block in that time. Don't know why they had issues, but I haven't. Perhaps a minor manufacturing change over time? One issue I have seen on the hammer drill is occasionally, the racheting chuck has loosened during use, specifically when stopping, not while actively drilling. I've seen some review videos mention the same issue, so it's not just my unit. For the full-time tradesman, those might be disqualifying factors. Also, if you regularly work at heights, I can see a chuck loosing being a potential hazard of dropping your bit. But for most other users, that's a fairly minor annoyance. If you look at head-to-head comparisons with competitors, the specs on these might be overstated a bit, delivered torque seems to be comparable to tools spec'd about 10% lower torque. Not a big deal, but that would take them out of "best in class" specs, however, they do keep it close with the best competitors. My coworkers use a variety of other brands, most do a good job for about 97% of our work, but for that last 3%, they either have to work much harder, or borrow mine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The details matter I'm a professional carpenter. Decided to give the new brushless Ridgids a turn in my tool box. The drill and impact driver seem well built. I do like the 3 light system. And I do like the power, torque and speed settings. But 2 overlooked, or poorly designed details have me looking forward to my next replacements already. The first is the forward/locked/reverse switch. It's too close to the grip and I almost always bump that stupid switch when initially wrapping my hand around the grip. The second poor design is the tool/battery connector. Using the drill in the hammer mode causes the battery to vibrate and fall right off the drill. I had to duct tape the battery on in order to finish. Brand new drill....and after a month or so...I've noticed the battery locking clip barely holds the battery on and it's falling off while in my drill holster now....and I'm only using the 3 amp hour batteries that came in the set. I don't see how the even large, heavier batteries can possibly stay on my drill so I can't even expand liked I originally planned to.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from undependable product We have purchased multiple kits (R9603) with the recommendation of a fellow contractor. And in the past 6 months they have failed. The only thing that has held up is the battery and charger. As for warranty, we carried them back to home depot where they were bought and they wanted 20.00 per tool to check them out to see if they were able to be warrantied! We changed from Porter cable and Kobalt to these Ridgid tools because of the warranty, probably not anymore. The Porter Cable and Kobalt pieces we had we end up having to put back in use because these fail. Thank goodness we keep the old dependable back ups
