Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made my collection of breaker bars obsolete. I am not a shill. Never bought a Ridgid product before. Did all four brakes on a 2008 Ford van, including lugs I had tightened myself with a three foot breaker bar. If an impact doesnt have the power its literaly useless. This has power in spades and the battery still has half its charge. Hats off.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, incredible! I have been using Pneumatic impact drivers for years. In many recent years, I have my main compressor set at 150psi to get some of the tougher nuts off. I have been waiting for this unit to be available in Canada for well over a year now. I have many of the other Ridgid tools and batteries, so this bare tool was perfect. Well I can't truthfully speak on the durability (although Ridgid does give it the lifetime service agreement) of the tool, I can certainly speak of my impression of the tool so far. Given that my pneumatic tools use a compressor that runs on 220v and takes many minutes to pump up, this tool is ready to go immediately (and anywhere). I have only used it once so far. I had to change a tire on my trailer that has been on there since new (about 8 years ago) and of course in Canadian salt environment. I must say that at least one of the nuts was being questioned. Even at that, all the nuts came off without any lube and the nut that was being 'testy' came off smoking hot. Not sure if any of my pneumatic impacts would have done much better (some would have done worse). In the end, I might sell all my ½ pneumatic impacts and buy a second one of these for the cabin. Heck, might sell all my air compressors but one to pump up my tires (unless Ridgid makes a battery powered air compressor lol). I have put together a nice collection or Ridgid cordless tools and have not been disappointed at all so far. With the lifetime service agreement, I guess I would have to give full marks for durability too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome tool! One of the best things I've added to my toolbox in years. The Ridgid 1/2" impact wrench is a must have for your Ridgid 18v collection. I purchased mine alongside my Gen5x set. For me I can't believe how much torque this battery-operated unit has as opposed to my previous pneumatic impact wrenches. This thing hammers lug nuts off easily and actually will over-torque them back on if you're not careful. Use it to snug your lug nuts back on and a torque wrench to tighten them easily for the best result. Battery life is amazing. I can run all day on one of the 4Ah Hyper-Li battery packs. When it finally runs out of fuel it only takes about a half hour to charge it back up. Absolutely amazing. Being a shade-tree mechanic, I use this tool WAY more often than I thought I ever would on all of my cars. Just an overall great tool. I can't wait to see if they build a Gen5x version of this tool. Long story short, Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect I have loved it since I took it out of the box. The only issue I've found that really grinds my gears when it happens is that at some angles, the concussion of the impact shakes the battery loose and it must be removed and reinstalled to continue. This might happen 4/5 times in a row in some cases. 90% of the time this is not an issue and it works great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool Used this impact to put winter tires and wheels on my Silverado pickup. This impact replaces my CP 1/2 in air impact, and does it while making the CP look like a child's toy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from this may be good this may be as good as it looks, but batteries are all ways the short fall of cordless tools. if i can not get this with a battery and charger for the lsa i will not spend my money on it. the batteries do not last near long enough for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The shops go to I am a auto and truck mechanic, and everyone in my shop loves to borrow this thing. Forget the air lines I did a four wheel brake job on 1 stick of a 4ah battery. My go to when nothing else works. Durable and powerful lightest one on the market pull truck driveshafts no problem 5/8 bolts not a sweat. I love this thing maybe the x5 will bump up a few foot lbs without adding to the size. Please keep the 3 LEDs they are awesome for working under a truck specially with the light trigger I use it as a flashlight as well ;)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tool to have around I have used to rotate tires on my 2012 Ram 2500. More then enough power to remove lug nuts.

Warranty question

I own the combination 1/2 inch drill and 1/4 impact set which is covered with the lifetime service agreement. I see this is available without a battery. I know the battery is sold separately. Is there a way to have a battery covered under the lifetime service agreement since it is not sold as a kit or is there a kit available somewhere?

Answer:
No, there is not a kit available at this time containing the 18V ½” impact wrench with a battery and charger, and individual battery purchases do not qualify for the Lifetime Service Agreement coverage.

Yes you can, it'll kill the battery faster. I use a 2ah in it when the 4ah is charging. Does not change the power

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

No, the R86010B impact wrench can achieve its maximum output torque using any of the RIDGID 18V batteries; it does not need a 4.0 Ah battery to produce its maximum capable output torque.

I work and own an auto/truck repair and custom shop and have been watching the cordless market for a while know. I have other brand 12v hex drive impacts and last year purchased the Ridgid one which I love the performance, price and warranty coverage of compared to the others. I am currently looking into getting a 3/8" cordless gun that has around 200ft/lbs of torque (and eventually the 1/2") and was wondering if Ridgid is working on one or planning on one in the near future cause then i'll wait for it. The last thing I want is multiple tool, battery, and chargers cluttering work space all from different brands.

Thanks
Jon
