I bought this tool in May 2015 in preparation to do work on a home I was purchasing. When I used it for the first time in September 2015, within 5 minutes, I noticed orange pieces flying out of the back of the tool and pieces of what appear to be black electrical wire shavings hitting me in the face. I was simply drilling small pilot holes into a 2x4! It looks as though the fan blades in the rear of the tool somehow all snapped and caused internal damage to the drill! I took it to Home Depot and they stated they would not replace it until I took it to an authorized warranty repair center. I called all of the authorized centers in my area and none of them can even look at it until 3-4 weeks after I drop it off. If they determine they cant fix it, they have all said that they need to send it to Rigid to either be repaired or replaced. When I asked how long that would take, I was told up to 2 months from when they send it in! That means I am without a tool for 3 months! Absolutely ridiculous!
I will be dropping it off, and since I know they are going to be replacing it since it is beyond repair, I'm sure that it will be replaced, but I am without the tool that I need more than anything else. This has been nothing but an absolute hassle and I will never buy another Rigid tool again!

Rated 1 out of 5 by CHRemodeling Beware of Bogus Warranty
The Warranty is a Joke. My drill has an intermittent problem.
I called Ridgid directly. They said i couldn't mail in my drill. I had to carry it to the tool center at HD. The tool rental charges me $18 to test the drill then says it's not covered by warranty because it doesn't act up for them. I'm out $18 and still have a drill with a problem. The date code on the drill is the 30th week of 2014. Its only a year old.
It's takes two hour long round trips every time I try to get it covered by warranty. Just to add insult to injury they also charge me $18.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Apwillard1986 Excellent drill!
My wife bought me this when we bought our first home. My first nice power tool of my own; this tool sold me on Ridgid and I have since completed my collection. In the three years I have owned this drill I have used it countless times and it's power and battery life still impress me. I even used it in a pinch to mix joint compound and that is after it spent three days sinking countless drywall screws. It is a bit heavy but that is true of all drills in this class. From concrete anchors to lag screws this thing has helped me get it all done.

Great drill. You can feel the power when you use it. The led light is great, and no one can beat the warranty.
