It save a lot of time.no need to roll out a cord and get the big chipping hammer, this sds packs a punch. Need to put tapcons in this sds will do it 3x faster that the regular hammer drill I would recommend this to anyone you will not be disappointed

Rated 5 out of 5 by HVACJ from Kick the cord! Bought this about a month ago and have drilled about 400 1/4" holes and about 900 1/2" holes about 3" deep. It sure beats lugging 100 feet of extension cord around! Even though I haven't owned it long I feel like I've put it to good use. It doesn't seem too be slowing down any either. It;s been dropped and abused and is still chugging through concrete. I just went and bought a second one today because my corded one crapped out on me. I haven't used the chipping feature on it yet, so I can't comment on that. When I do, I will update my review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by cpl24900606 from "ABOUT TIME RIDGID"TOPSHELF ROTARY SDS HAMMER DRILL ABOUT BLOODY TIME!! The toolkit is almost cordless complete. I bought the AEG version 5 years ago, and finally RIDGID have delivered. Back to review, the drill itself is full of top features. 4mode selector, chisel, drill, hammer drill aand free rotate. YAnti vibration rear handle, no white finger here. Front handle with integrated depth gauge. Pull back chuck for easy it insertion. powerful 2.3joules impact force. on a typical day I use it to drill 50 x7mm holes 3inch deep for fixings.it just laughs at concrete. With my AEG i was informed would take 3 weeks to actually wear it's self in.haven, t got to that point yet with RIDGID, . but TV to my eye both AEG RIDGID ARE IDENICAL. SO I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS TO ALL PRO USERS

I bought a R86710B (on box) as I was told it was the Gen5X model. All my other Gen5X tools say it on the tool but this one does not. The tool says R86710, I was told the one without the "B" is old model. What is the model number for the 4X?
This model itself is not GEN5X, but it is the most current model we offer.

What is the maximum diameter bit recommended for use?
7/8 Bit is the max. Rule of thumb though, use half the size of the chuck for bits and your tool will work it's best.
