At this time, the RIDGID wood working power tool division is not offering or marketing any optional angle grinder accessories like buffing pads or buffing discs, and there is not a specific brand of that type of accessory on the market to advise of as being compatible with the RIDGID R1005 angle grinder.

Can this tool be used with a masonry (stone, tile, granite) cutoff wheel to trim a 1/4 in. thick stone backsplash? If so, what is the recommended cutoff wheel?

No, the R86040B is a metal grinder , and is designed for use in the grinding of metal. Use on masonry (stone, tile, granite) could damage the tool, as well as voiding its warranty.
