GEN5X™ 18V LED Flash Light is rated out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by cpl24900606 from light or area light!!! BOTH!! Seriously great wee light. I know it is only a hand light, but the power of the beam is amazing, I originally bought for the end of working day when I shut down the generator and trying to get tools from site to van. THEN I realised if swivel the head around to face ceiling, the light spreads off ceiling so much so I could turn off generator run light and leave generator to cool . AS for operation could, the be simple r. Just like a drill squeeze once on, squeeze again off.the head rotates on its axis. All in all great powerful wee light

Rated 5 out of 5 by DIYjunkie from Great little light I own 9 Ridgid tools from the 18 volt line (excluding batteries and chargers) and while I think of the tools themselves as sturdy and reliable tools, I have always thought that the flashlights were either unimaginative, under performing or awkwardly designed. The light I really wanted was an LED "pistol grip" type of light commonly found in other tool bundles. Finally Rigid came out with just the light I wanted! First off, it very bright, and has lit up my partially finished basement when I was running electricity. Secondly, the pistol grip style is intuitively handy. The flashlight fits my grip in just the way I want to grab a light. The pistol grip style is also great for setting down and then adjusting the beam to aim towards your project. When I was running lighting in my basement, the light was perfect for setting down on a ladder or the floor and then aim the beam right up at junction box I was working on--all hands free. If I would make just one change, it would be the way that the beam adjusts from horizontal to vertical. In any other similar light, the head would simply rotate upwards. Ridgid has a funky little side rotating mechanism that rotates the head sideways before aiming upwards. This is a trivial point and does not detract from the otherwise great little flashlight. My Ridgid flashlight has become by far the most commonly used tool in my Ridgid collection. In fact, the light is usually next to my bed stand as we frequently use it at night or when looking under beds or other dark corners. It is so useful that I am planning on getting additional batteries just to have for the flashlight. As far as power consumption, I know that it is rated for 40 hours on a 4 amp battery. I have come no where near that but I have had the light run for hours on a 4 amp battery (the only type I own) and only once did I ever see the battery display less than the full 4 lights on the battery meter (that one time it was down to 3 lights). On a final note, I have heard some complain that the light is "only" 100 lumens bright. Those 100 lumens are bright enough for me to light up half my basement or cast a beam hundreds of feet away at night. Don't be fooled by critics claiming it is not bright enough (they likely never owned the light in the first place). Ridgid has some other lights I would never consider, such as the CFB light, but this light they got it just right. 5 stars, absolutely no buyers remorse and (a small amount of) money extremely well spent!
