Rated 5 out of 5 by cpl24900606 from ALMOST HANDS FREE BLADE CHANGE, SIMPLE, GREAT DESIGNED THAT WORKS I bought this as part of job max, came with 18v body. i agree with other reviewer, 1st attempt was strange, but after that great system, just Don, t let the cocking arm snap back to quick. It's great system as almost hands free, reason say almost is you drop the blade onto the magnetic star holder, which holds in place.doesn, t fall or change angle like any other multi tool i, ve used.then simply turn wee toggle and release pressure on cocking arm slide it back into position. AND BOB'S YOUR UNCLE! !!!! NO ALLEN KEY NEEDED WHICH NORMALLY LEFT OF FLOATING AROUND BOTTOM OF TOOLBOX SIMPLE , WELL DESIGNED AND WORKS. GREAT WEE ADDITION TO JOBS A RANGE, TOTALLY RECOMMEND

Rated 4 out of 5 by RayR from A handy surgical tool for many occasions and a good improvement. The RIDGID ad description itself (above) under the "Includes" area, indicates a provided Allen Wench which is NOT required in this TOOL FREE version of the JOBMAX multi-tool head, and is contrary to the whole trust of this configuration. I think most who have objectively tested these type of Multi-tool oscillating devices indicate a comparative side to side oscillation closer to 3 degrees than the 4 degrees indicated above. I'm pretty sure 4 degrees is only been achieved by one product on the market to date. **Note greater side to side oscillation would naturally occur when the overall blade length increases. i.e. 3" vs. 3.5" blade; so the measured oscillation is indeed relative. The spring loaded locking/unlocking tool-free lever mechanism on this particular head attachment can be a bit tricky to negotiate at 1st, until totally familiar with its operation. If not fully engaged in the unlocked position (all the way over) it can snap back and down like a bear trap on unsuspecting digits. The blade mounting ring/structure has only 4 protruding compass point oriented pins (some have 12 pins) on which to mount each respective blade. Oscillating blades with an encircling mounting configuration are the most steady, secure, and versatile; providing 30 degree positioning intervals with full clamping engagement. I still like using the adapter ring atop any blade to: 1.) Increase the spring loaded tension being applied, and 2.) Better re-distribute the clamping load more evenly onto the interchangeable blade attachment point. I would recommend Japanese style tooth configuration cutting blades for wood, as they more effectively clear out the cut particulate material, and strictly carbide blades for metal. Thin Semi-circlular bi-metal segment blades for drywall and if used on wood, a guide block is recommended to allow one to keep the engaging teeth of the rounded blade ever rotating, and thus better clearing the subsequent blade gumming lignin and burning, in the narrow kerf. The product operates well overall with a little applied common sense.
