Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Tools Only issue is with the circ saw. The base must be forced into the 0 degree setting, otherwise it cuts at a bevel. It appears to be binding somewhere but I can't see where. The lock does seem to be holding it in place though. Also noticed not a lot of RPM from the blade but it appears to not hinder performance. And 100+ torque settings on the drill seems a bit overkill. I mean, why is there a need to set torque ABOVE the 100 percent mark? Light switches get pushed often on accident, but all in all a great set of tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy Duty Set I bought this cordless set while I was building steel chicken houses. I had the opportunity to go head to head with DeWalt and Milwaukee cordless tools that other contractors had. I will say I am very impressed with this set. The only complaint I have is the impact driver that comes with this set. I put a lot of self-tapping screws in and this impact driver worked ok for the first 50 or so and then it would get really hot. I ended up buying the stealth driver and that solved the heat problem. I highly recommend this set not only because it is good, but it is also backed by a lifetime warranty.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from there are some things that i would change the one complaint that i have is with the circular saw. i wish the blade was on the other side. presently i work as a mechanical designer for M3 Engineering but before that i was a carpenter for about 10 years. i started working as a carpenter in Texas where they use saws primarily set up like the rigid saw. when i went west they use Skills. i also have a dewalt set which has the saw set up like the skill. i like the Skill set up because you can saw small pieces with ease and safey. i tried that with this saw and took off part of the end of my middle finger added about 7 stitches in my third finger. something i would not have done had the saw been set up like skill with the blade on the other side. but all in all the performance and the quality of the tools are excellent. i love rigid tools but i wish they would flip their saw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cordless set I had I've had pretty much every brand of cordless tools. I used to stay away from Ridgid, because for some reason I thought they weren't heavy duty, I think I was confusing them with ryobi. Dont make the mistake. This 5x combo kit I have it just as good if not better tyem sets $300 more. Use the hammer drill and impact driver all dqy with above average use. I've been getting 2days on my 2 batteries without having to charge them. And thats them getting rotated into the circular and reciprocating saws. I barely hooked my corded saw up, because the cordless saw are about 90% as good. I'm property manager so I'm in and out of 5 jobs a day. So convenient not to have to plug in cords. I would recommend this tool to any tradesman unless you're doing heavy high framing and construction. Just recently I took up and reinstalled the boards on a 400 square ft deck to repair some leaks in the roof under it. Did the whole job with the 2 batteries on a single charge.with juice still left.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impact Rocks While I like the whole X5 kit, I REALLY like the impact driver. The impact driver 3 power settings are fantastic for the perfect driving of fasteners. The 3 LED's on front are excellent at lighting up work. My fav tool of the bunch. The drill is cool with the LEDs in the chuck, and the LED flashlight is super bright and has a very looong run time. Bigger saw blade is ok and the recip saw is ok. It was worth the upgrade from the X4 to the X5 just to get the new impact. Great value!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tool kit for the price Drill: awesome love the chuck light, the grip is exceptional love the new recessed groove on it, also how you can now position the handle 4 ways. The power is incredible kicks the red and white team to the curb. Impact: powerful and light, the improved grip is awesome so is the light. The choice of power levels makes it 3 tools in 1. So powerful you guys need to make a stronger 1/4 hex to square adapter, or food for thought a 3/8 impact wrench tool only to add on to the kit ;). Recip saw: beautiful!! Simply put the grip I can't get enough. Powerful yet light love the new direction of the orbital switch cuts like butter through steel and wood. Circular saw: works flawlessly, feels solid cuts like a charm. Workers loved it! Light: lasts forever, high quality light output couldn't be happier. So good I brought mine into the shop one day let everyone use a little and had 2 guys buy their own kits. That should tell you something. I also am a former user of the x4

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best tool kit on the market! I bought this set a few days ago after several hours of research trying to see which set was the best out there. I couldn't find anything that could beat this set, especially for the price.. Once I picked it up and began using the tools, I was not disappointed. The 4 ah batteries last a very long time. I built a 14 ft x 14ft awning with them and only used two batteries and both are still above half charge. The impact has no trouble at all driving a 6 in lag screw into a treated 4x6. Just to see if it would, I tried driving one in with the drill too and it did it with ease! The recip. saw cuts great and the orbital feature is really nice if you just need to cut through something quickly. The circ. saw is one of the best cordless out there. It has a 71/4 in blade and two ergonomic handles. All the tools are a bit heavy, but that just means they have a big strong motor! The light is really nice. In the dark, it will shine 200+ feet. Each of the tools have their own led light to illuminate whatever your cutting or drilling. Additionally, there is a second switch on the handle of each tool to only light up the led if you need it to light up without the blade or chuck turning. My dad is a die hard DeWalt guy but he used my Ridgid Gen5x kit and couldn't help but be impressed!

I am not seeing really much of anything on your website that explains what Gen5X Motor Technology actually is. Is it brushless technology? I'm just looking for some clarification so I can decide on if this is the kit for me. Thanks

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

It is a permanent magnet motor design with brushes, which produces a higher power output than previous motors designs used in the RIDGID cordless product line.

Answer:
It is not brushless, it's a permanent magnet motor and from what I seen on my own tools they have 4 brushes. They do out perform every single brushless tool out there. I speak from experience. My co worker is a big fan of the red and white brushless stuff and he was impressed with the drill, impact, and recip saw. The ridgid would do a 1" spade bit with me pushing on it on speed 2 through 4x4 pressure treated while his brushless would bog down and cut out if you put any pressure on it. Same with a 3/8 lag screw the x5 would drive it down on speed 2 all of the way and his would stop less than 1/2 way and have to finish it on one. The impact also out performed his by doing the same lag through the same material in and out twice by the time he would do one. His impact and drill $399 my x5 impact drill, impact, light, recip saw, and circular saw $399 you do the math ;)

I've taken the jump into upgrading all my cordless power tools. I decided to invest in all your newest GEN5X brushless tools instead of the brushed GEN5X set. I'm only missing a sawzall and prefer to buy the GEN5X model over the 4X model currently offered. I'm hoping for this to be my last power tool purchase and want the newest versions I can purchase at this time. Is it possible to get the GEN5X sawzall by itself? If not, why? Or when will the GEN5X tools be offered as stand-alone tools? Thanks in advance for your response.

Answer:
Hello!

Thanks for the question!

At this time, we don’t have a date for when the GEN5X reciprocating saw will be offered as a bare tool.

However, I’ll pass this message along to our product team as they’re always anxious for suggestions from our customers.
