5 Gallon electric powered air compressor
Rated 3.1 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Outstanding compressor I bought this compressor 10 years ago to replace a piece of garbage Craftsman that went south. I have had excellent service from this tool. It flawlessly performs every time I have an opportunity to use it. It has built my shop, run all of my pneumatic tools and provides plenty of air for clearing sawdust and other debris. Not sure why others are having issues other than it is loud when running. I have recommended this compressor to friends and family, and several bought the same model several years ago. Theirs are still working well to this day. February 14, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellant product for a guy on the move Excellent product as I am a professional cabinet trim carpenter. I like the fact that I can take the head unit with me in another room. It is fast to pump up and not constantly running. December 16, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by good features, un use able Very loud, will drive you out of the room. Requires too many amps to power up compressor motor. New home on 20 amp outlet and wouldn't kick over. Must plug in next to breaker box (shorter wire length). This was a reconditioned unit-the ample availability of them speaks to the quality. December 12, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Compressor Very handy having a fixed as well as portable compressor. November 26, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love the features The ability to separate the tank and compressor is a big plus for me. Don't always need to haul to whole unit around. The compressor does draw a lot of power when starting up, especially against the back pressure of a partially full tank, Overall, I'm pleased with the machine. It's not nearly as loud as my old pancake compressor. November 25, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by the breaker is a constant hassle The breaker is a constant hassle to have to deal with during a busy work day. November 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Serves purpose desired. easy to use and reliable but could use more air storage. November 24, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Works great on the go Very easy to take with you to customer's house . Nice that you do not need to bring the whole compressor with you makes my life a lot easier. November 24, 2014

Answer:
I bought it. I'm an Industrial Electrician and we throw about everything at our air compressors from nailers, tackers, staplers, palm grinders, paint sprayers and you name it. So far, it's awesome.
The RIDGID web site specs show 14.5 amps. And the handy-dandy owner manual only references 14.5 amps. I presume it is the load value. I cannot find a running/operating amperage listed anywhere.
The first time I plugged it in, I tripped a breaker and so I plugged it into a dedicated outlet for a refrigerator and ran a 12-3 extension cord and it worked fine.
Breakers usually trip at 75% -80% rated capacity, so it will definitely require a 20 amp circuit for start-up and operation.

Answer:
No, that would not be recommended. RIDGID compressor model OF50150TS requires standard 120V at a constant 60 Hz. cycles. RIDGID does not recommend the use of any type of power inverters or optional power sources with any of their AC powered products.

Thank you

Answer:
Good luck! Not going to happen. I have gone through over 20 compressors and never once encountered this issue.
