Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality tool I’ve used this tool for several months now as a woodworking hobbyist and it does everything my large router can do. It fits my hand and does a better job in many applications. I looked/held all the other “trim” routers and this one just felt good in my hand. I especially like the height adjustment and the ease of changing bits. Also, Ridgid’s “Life Time Warranty” is unbeatable

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is easy to use and is heavy duty This product is great to use, it has a good grip. It would be nice if it had a little bit more power but for a small router you can't get much better. I have dropped it a few times and it's heavy duty, it can take a pounding and won't quit on you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for quick simple jobs the acrylic base makes it easy to see where youre working, this works great for little jobs when I don't want the big router off the table

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent router. Fully capable of handling any of the smaller routing jobs you have. I bought this for a particular task. The features are great! The square and round bases are very handy for different types of wood shapes that you may have. The micro adjust dial makes setting precise depth a breeze. The LED light is nice but could be brighter. A better solution might be to place one on opposite sides of each other. One bad note is that the wrench will not fit properly onto the collet nut through the opening so you must lower the base or remove it to change bits. A very slight base opening modification would make this much easier and quicker. All in all, I really like this router. It's variable speed function and 1.5 HP motor allows it to handle a variety of jobs that would sometimes require a larger router. It's fun to use and comes with a nice soft storage case. Don't forget the lifetime warranty!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This tool was a blessing to use. This router was so easy and precise to use. I was able to replace door latches and hinges almost as quick as I could take them down to do so. I am glad that I talked to a salesperson at "The Home Depot" and got this compact item.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Powerful tool in a small package Bought this out of necessity in lieu of a larger router and have yet to buy a full sized model. But, leaning towards another RIDGID product when the time comes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poweful little gem I love this little router. I can use it with one hand to trim off various projects. It's even easy to use on a ladder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use This is a small, light weight trim router that fits in either the home or professional shop. It's easy to use and has the power and features you would expect out of a Ridgid power tool.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Handy and Capable I love this little router! It has been capable of producing any edge-profiling job that I've thrown at it. Actually, it hasn't bogged down during any of it's duties in my shop. I love the soft start and it's easy to make small or large adjustments. Changing the bit is a breeze as well but what sets this router apart from others is its ease of use. It's lightweight and fits my hand well and the clear base with the LED makes it so easy to use I find myself routing things that I never would have taken the time to in the past. I have three other routers of various sizes from other manufacturers and they've been collecting dust ever since I brought this home over 3 years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality for the Price I have only been using this tool for about two weeks now...but that being said, I have been very impressed with the power & lightweight nature of this compact router. I think that so far, it has been more than worth the money. It is easy to hold, adjust the depth, and change the bits, etc. I have been very surprised by the power this small router has. I hope it keeps up the good work, and I am looking forward to using it for a long time to come in the future.

Do you have the plunge adpter to make it a plunge router? I just purchased it to make some signs>

I have the sign patterns etc. and router bit.
Asked by: wa0qqd
No, RIDGID dos not offer a plunge base or an adaptor that provides that feature for the R2401 trim router. That would be a feature commonly associated with full size routers. Thank you RIDGID

Will this router work to mortise hinges with a guide?

Wondering if this router can be used with a mortise kit from HD to cut out hinges on slab doors?
Asked by: Tjubb4
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID. It possibly can. However, that would depend on the mortising kits router compatibility requirements. Regards, RIDGID

any adaptor available for 6mm shank bits?

I have a small 10-pieces metric bit set that have a 6mm shank. The collet of the router will not allow to thighten enough, even if the différence is small (1/4"=6,35mm). Do hou know of any 6mm collet that would fit the R2401 ? And if so, where can I find one ?
Asked by: deepblue68cd
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID! RIDGID does not offer an adapter, and there is not one we can advise on the market of to allow for the R2401 trim router to hold bits with a shank size other than a standard ¼”. Regards, RIDGID

What is the change in depth with the micro guide ?

For instance, if I have a 1.5" bit, and the maximum change in depth on the micro guide is 1", then i could have a 1/2" deep dato. Also, can this machine handle a 1 1/2" deep dato.

How can we adapt the bases to accept standar 1 3/16" guide bushings?

Variable RPM Settings

What is the relationship between the settings on the Speed Dial (1-7) and the no-load rpm? The specs state a 20,000-30,000 no-load rpm. However, depending on the bit you are using, a maximum rpm is often stated, i.e., 18,000, or 24,000, etc. It would be nice to match the Speed Dial setting to the bit requirement.
