Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wet Vac I liked this vac so much this is my second one. The price is very competitive and the quality is top notch. I use in in my wood shop and it handles everything I throw at it. It has a very nice array of accessories that are standard, but I got my with the additional car vac tools. The suction is a lot stronger than equivalent vacs I've had in the past. The best part of all is the lifetime warranty. When it comes to tools I look at what Ridgid has to offer first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Shop-Vac It has great suction. Besides using it for cleaning my shop floor I also connect it to my table saw and track-saw. I also connected a cyclonic dust separator to it which is great for prolonging the life of the shop-vac as 99% of the dust is captured in a separate 5 gallon bucket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very powerful and quiet vac This is replacing a 25 year old Ridgid wet dry vac that is still going strong. The problem with the old one is noise. It is LOUD. This new unit is so far just as powerful but much quieter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very quiet and tons of suction After some research on the internet, I decided on the 14 gallon WD1450 variant that come with Ridgid's 'Auto Detailing Kit'. This turned out to be exactly the way to go. I do a lot of wood and metal projects in my basement and the vac's 4" diameter hose eats not only the dust and chips, but wood scraps that would never pass through the smaller diameter hose of my old 12 gallon Shop-Vac. The suction is incredible. Perhaps appreciated more than anything else is that it is QUIET for a wet/dry vac. Along with the lower dB's is the characteristic of the WD1450's noise. -It lacks the particularly annoying (to me) high frequency whine that a lot of wet/dry vacs have. I see that some manufacturer's offer 'mufflers' for their units at an additional cost. It would be a waste of money on the 1450. The tools that come with the vac are all pretty useful though i wish that with all the suction this unit has that Ridgid's large orifice 'Utility Nozzle' was as wide as their narrow but wider rubber bladed 'Wet Nozzle'. Still, I didn't have it in me to take off a star for an otherwise perfect machine. I said mine came with a car detailing kit. This is also the smart way to buy the machine. At least one of the big home supply stores sells that WD1450 variant only $20 above the basic 1450. The detainling kit if bought separately is $40. The kit's longer, smaller diameter and FLEXIBLE hose gives one a longer reach into the back of something like an SUV or van. The smaller nozzles get into much tighter places as well. The kit also comes with two brushes. the soft one is great for dashes and instrument panels and the stiff one is great on the mats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! My new Wet/Dry Vac truly sucks.............anything I put in front of it that will go into the hose. On an impulse I took the hose end and tried to attach it to my Ridgid Compound Miter Saw and it fits like a glove...Now I'm Really Excited about it. I love the vacuum bag feature. I could not ask for more in this Shop vac, model 1450. I love my Ridgid tools.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you can expect from a wet /dry vacuum. I spent a lot of time researching before I purchased this vacuum. It does everything I expected it to. I would recommend this model to anyone. I especially like the car cleaning attachments on this model. They work very well. I would highly recommend this vacuum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product with low noise level We upgraded from a 20+ year old craftsman wet dry vacation. This unit is far superior, both in suction and in noise level. So far an excellent Product. Time will tell, as I haven't used in extreme conditions yet, such as dry wall dust. As of now, we are very pleased.

can i wet vac with paper filter

Asked by: jerryrusty
It is not recommended. Depending on your use you can remove the pleated paper filter or purchase a sponge type filter that will replace the pleated paper filter.

Will the WD1450 accept standard non locking hoses as well?
Asked by: dresnik
I had an extra hose from my last vac and it fit, but I believe I had to use the 3 piece adapter kit.

Is the airflow (CFM) of the vacuums measured at the end of the hose or at the opening on the canister?

Asked by: ShopDoc
The CFM (air flow) is measured by how much air is taken in through a round opening ranging from two inches to completely closed. Of course, there is zero CFM at no opening and maximum CFM at a two-inch opening.
