Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good design and features Have been buying Rigid products for years. This is our 3rd vac. Have had them since the 80's. We had 2 just before. Our very 1st one (still have, blower only) and another one after that. Blower FINALLY went on the younger one. Can't tell you when we bought it, it's been that long. Used it for everything (car, flooded basement, leaf blowing, you name it). Nice power on our newest (6.5 hp peak). Obvious design improvements. Accessory caddy, nice touch. Like locking feature for blower attachment. Haven't had it for long, but like it so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ridgid Quality shows My old Ridgid wet/dry vac bought in the last century finally died having provided excellent service including two home flooding occurrences and, since my leaf blower of similar vintage was also having issues, I opted for this one and am very pleased with the power and lower noise levels. Probably won't last into the next century but neither will I so that's OK.

After decades of service by my old Ridgid shop vac, it was time to upgrade. While it still works fine, as I start doing more woodworking, I wanted something with more power to collect the dust. A true dust collection system is not in the budget at this time, and I'm still moving tools around. This 6.5 hp Ridgid vac will serve quite nicely. The hose and tubes that lock on this new vac make it easy to move around the shop, and the increased power provides noticeably more suction. The tool holder is much improved as well. Looking forward to using this new vac in my shop.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not seem to be quite as powerful as my last one, but still does a great job. I love the ridgid vacum. I had my other one for many years and when it stopped working RIDGID replaced it under your lifetime warranty policy. Great customer service. I actually own 3 of them all different sizes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Upgrade. Bought this to replace my old 5 gal vac Using this in my shop for woodworking and the blower for leaves and grass trimmings. Very happy with the build of it and it’s very quiet for a shop vac. Used it many times and use a dust separator with it. I highly recommend this for It can be used for many applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent 2-in1 vac blower! Assembly of the WD1680 vac blower was simple enough (be sure to push the wheels in hard until you hear a clicking/snapping sound to lock them in place (otherwise they can fall out). The vac comes with a handful of useful attachments and works really well. Most impressive is the blower functionality! It's very strong! IF you use this to clean sawdust off of power tools, wear a respirator and safety goggles.. Serisouly, this thing will blow sawdust all over the place! The only thing I really wish was the hose was constructed to be more solid (stepping on it risks cracking the plastic - so I gave a 4 rating for durability). But overall, a great shop vac with plenty of blower and suction power!

starter ... on/off ... switch is not operating properly

hi ... have the wd1665 model of the 16 gallon wet/dry vac. this unit has been great, but now notice that when i switch the unit ON, sometimes I have to giggle it a little to get it to start. Any ideas on how to correct? Do these switches wear out? thanks.
Asked by: glb225
Switches can go bad and wear out. It could be just a loose connection also? I would first spray some alcohol into the switch itself and around the switch housing because sometimes the contacts of the switch get dirty. Let this dry for a minute or two and then try it and see if it works. If not then If the machine is not under warranty you should be able to take it apart by removing some screws and the unit should separate into two pieces. This should also give you access to the switch. From their you can determine if it's a loose connection or a bad switch? Hope this helps?

I HAVE CHANGED THE FILTER, CHECKED THE HOSE FOR DEBRIS, AND THE HOSE INTAKE PORT. MY VACUUM IS STILL WORKING AT ABOUT %50.

I have only had my unit for about a month and used it very little.

Thank you for contacting RIDGID® Customer Support. There are a number of reasons your vac may have reduced suction power. We recommend that you check the following: 1 – The most common reason for reduced performance is a clogged filter that is full of debris. Please check the condition of your filter – you may need to either clean or replace your filter. 2 - The drain cap could be loose or missing. You should check the connections. 3 – The hose may have holes or could be clogged – you should check the condition of your hose and clean or replace if necessary. 4 - The float (which is the device inside the filter cage beneath the filter) could be stuck in the upward position. Check the float - it should be moving freely. 5 – The drum is not secure to the power head. You should check to insure that the drum is properly secured to the power head. If the above recommendations do not solve your problem, please contact us and we can attempt to troubleshoot the vacuum with you. Also, if its within 90 days, you may return the vac at Home Depot for an exchange. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800- 474-3443) or you may send your email to [email protected] Regards, RIDGID

can i use my 16 G, blower vac too for blow in fiber insulation?

trying to use the blower feature, but am not sure if this is possible with this model, already bought and extra 8' line, (16' total line), as the area is tight, but improperly insulated. the filter seems as it will deter this and removing the filter i think may clog up the motor. thank you in advance for all responses.
Asked by: darool
I would advise against what you are trying to do. This blower is not designed to blow things through the device. You could try to build a "fill system" and connect it to the hose itself. I am not sure if it will work, but I would give that a try before blowing insulation through the actual motor unit.

How do I hook an attachment to the blower?

My blower has, what looks like a vent, where the attachment should go. I cant seem to remove the vent part.
Asked by: Kathy
Did you get or can you locate your owners manual for your vac? You might even be able to go on the rigid web site and download the owners manual for your device? This should tell you how to hook up an attachment to your blower. You might even be able to find a YouTube video on it? Who knows their are videos on just about anything these days? My blower attachment locks into the blower port. Mine works like this I push the blower attachment into the blower port and then turn it clockwise until it locks into place which is great because you don't have to worry about it falling off or the blower blowing it off like on my older sears model I have. Hope this helps!
