Rated 1 out of 5 by Lasted Three uses and died I have always had good luck with Ridgid products until the this shop vac. I used it a total of three times with a liner bag and it died, it was less than 2 weeks old. With hard wood flooring and 2 large dogs that leave a lot of hair this was used to clean up the floor, get hair from under furniture general cleaning. Nothing wet, heavy or sawdust. When it worked it worked very well, I was happy with performance, cord length, size and attachments. Disappointed in the cheap flimsy hose. I returned it to Home Depot for a refund and purchased the same model again. I hope my first was just a bad apple the fell through the cracks In the Quality Control. September 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Vac for the Size My 12 yr old Shop Vac finally bit the dust. Just bought and used this vac today cleaning up after I installed foam board insulation in the ceiling of my house and was really surprised. I really appreciate the design of this vac. With the design of the unit and light weight, I can use it atop a step ladder without struggling and the handle in the middle makes it well balanced and easy to tote around and use. Put it on the floor and it will follow you around like a puppy without falling over like the traditional round ones. I was really impressed with how quiet this unit is compared to my previous one too. I can't comment on durability yet, but expect the best. Agree with some others that a couple more nozzles could be thrown in, as the upholstery brush from Home Depot is total [email protected] (The suction on this vac pulls the bristles inward on the brush making it useless unless you trim them down to 1/2 inch or so.) Opted for this unit over a similar one for $30 less and glad I did. Suction is very good and like the option of adding a bag for better filtration inside the home. Also would like to see the hose extended a couple more feet. I'm tall and can just barely put the end of the hose over my head. July 31, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product sucks! Sorry, couldn't resist. The vacuum works relatively quietly and does a good job of getting up the various debris that I've used it on. Nice long hose, attachments fit well, and I like the fact I can store the hoses on the vacuum casters. June 30, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by good strong suction, long cord. could have a couple of extra accessories. So far I've used it twice. Love the London electrical cord. The is only one attachment. Could use one or two more attachments. I love it so far. Good strong suction. June 29, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Vac Nice to see a real vac in a small and portable size. Great for my small shop and taking to the job site. I also like the option of switching the hose to make it a blower. Nice for removing dust just before applying finish to a wood project. June 29, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Only thing that's missing is more attachments. Peforms amazing and not too loud. Little pricey but good, durable product June 26, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by satisfied thus far have only had it for a week and used once for dry pick up Not as noisy as my old shop vac but still a little loud. Have not used it for wet pickup yet. My shop vac failed miserably as from day one it was never capable of wet pickup. Kept saying I was gonna return it and never did, but it's over 15 yrs old and noisy as ever. So w we'll see if Rigid os still around in. 10 plus years. June 25, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by excellent for the size We had our home built by a custom contractor. We would come in after their workday and use this vac to clean up what the contractors did not....sheetrock dust, sawdust, dirt, small wood chips and small nails or staples. Worked absolutely great. Cons: less suction power than higher HP vacs. attachments a little loose but they have a snap on stay on feature. Pros: easy to use bags for dry collection. easy to move around, light on weight. Now I have a new one for Fathers Day and use it around our garage and outside house. First one my son still uses. June 25, 2016

Answer:
Here are some notes from the manual:
Vacuuming Liquids:
1. When picking up small amounts of liquid the filter may be left in place,
2. When picking up large amounts of liquid we recommend that the filter be removed. If the filter is not removed it will become saturated and misting may appear in the exhaust.
Warning: do not remove the filter cage and float. The float prevents liquid from entering the impeller and damaging the motor. The cage prevents fingers from touching the impeller.
3. When the liquid in the drum reaches a predetermined level, the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow. You will know that the float has risen because vac airflow ceases and the motor noise will become higher in pitch, due to increased motor speed. When this happens, turn off the vac unplug the power cord, and empty the drum.
4. After using the vac to pick up liquids, the filter must be dried to avoid possible mildew and damage to the filter.

Thank you

Absolutely! There must be a foam filter on the unit when vacuuming up liquids to prevent debris from getting in to the impeller.

The filter and the way it mounts on to the vacuum is exactly the same as many other brands. So though I have not done so myself. I am pretty sure there is a foam filter out there under another brand that will fit.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

It is encourage using a wet rug and wiping the dust accumulated on the vacuum’s power head rather than washing it directly with water as the water might enter to the motor which will be a safety issue.

Answer:
Unless you are using it as a wet vac make sure to use a clean filter that is properly installed, (it's simple), and if need be wipe down the motor housing with a damp, not wet, cloth with the unit unplugged.

Answer:
Yes, I located one at Home Depot; although the one I found that would fit a 1=7/8 inch hose was available only with a 'crevice nozzle' attachment as well. It seems the price for the two attachments was about $14.00 and some change.
