Rated 5 out of 5 by SO FAR ~~ SO GOOD Bought to replace an aging Shop Vac brand....have other Ridgid products...have only owned for one week and and cannot comment on durability ...seems well engineered will post follow up review after using January 21, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by great product and lifetime warranty! Will be a ridgid customer for life. Power tools to shop vacs I use on a daily basis and never encountered problems. January 18, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best i have used ! I am 62 years old and have used a lot of shop vacs in my lifetime ! I have been using Rigid vacs for at least 10 years and have found them to be the best of what I have used ! Very durable and I use them to vacuum out my bait and lobster tanks when I clean them ! These are the only vac that has held up to that ! I purchased this new one to replace one that i have had for 5 years not that it stop working but because it mistakenly got push to close to my space heater, oops ! Great shop vac ! January 18, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Not Perfect, but darn near! I've only used it a few times so I may not have figured out all the tricks. The suction power is awesome! In fact, it's so awesome that the floor attachment gets stuck to the floor and when I try to get it loose the extender wands come apart. It seems like something in the hose or attachment should swivel because it's difficult to get the hose oriented just right so the floor attachment is facing down. I've had to open it up and push/shake stuff around in the bag so it's not all near the opening because it got clogged. It seems like the filter takes up so much room that the bag can't expand properly. I ordered the adapters and a Vacmaster carpet attachment but haven't had a chance to try them yet. Basically, I'm used to an upright vacuum, and I'm trying to use this wet/dry vac as the ONLY vacuum for everything. What it does great on is cleaning up after my house rabbits. Hay doesn't clog the 2 1/2" hose, which is awesome. If you have bunnies, this is the bomb! Just be careful not to suck them up! I'm very happy with my purchase and think I just need to get the hang of handling so much POWER! I can't wait to use it in the garage and on wood/building projects when spring comes! January 11, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by The product is just as promised Great product! Highly recommended!! If you need a top quality shop vacuum, I highly recommend this product January 7, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Bought to clean up a flooded basement. It did a really good job as a wet vac and I was very pleased with its design. It has a surprising amount of vacuum and was very easy to clean after use. Over all I am very pleased with it and am glad I have it for other uses now. January 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent shop vac for my garage This replaced a very old shop vac. More powerful now, and onboard tool storage makes this one a great portable addition to the garage. January 3, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by It's a vacuum It sucks like a vacuum, it does what it is suppose to do! What else can I say? December 28, 2015

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

If you are picking up clean water, the pleated paper filter should be removed.

When picking up small amounts of liquid the paper filter may be left in place. Please note that when the filter becomes saturated, misting may occur at the blower port. To further protect the motor of the vac, there is a wet filter (VF7000 part number) available. This filter can only be used for 5 gallon and larger vacs. The VF7000 filter is available at any local Home Depot store or it can be purchase through our Customer Service organization over the phone 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800-474-3443) or on-line at www.ridgidparts.com.

Additionally, when picking up large volume of liquids, the liquid in the drum may reach a predetermined level and the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow. This occurs to avoid liquids from entering the power head. When this happens, turn off the vac, unplug the power cord, and empty the drum. For this reason, it is important NOT to leave the vac running unattended during operation.

Before storage, the filter must be dried to avoid possible mildew and damage to the filter. We recommend that you clean or wash the filter then let it air dry overnight. Please check the filter for holes or tears after each cleaning. The filter might need to be replaced if it has any damage.

RIDGID

In the previous question about bags for this model, the answer give was to use the VF3502 filter bags. However, the instructions for installing the bag on the 2 rib inlet tube don't match the anatomy of the WD1270, which has an inlet tube that is molded into the body at the bottom so the cardboard collar cannot be attached.

You will need to punch a hole on the cardboard before sliding it over the inlet tube inside the drum.

Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

The gap between the lid (top) and the drum (bottom) will create a tight vacuum seal during operation. We do not have a rubber gasket available but you can use a weather stripping if you like a tight fit during non-operation.

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800-474-3443) or you may send your email to [email protected]

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

We would like you to know that there is no way to stop the air coming out from the exhaust port. The RIDGID® vacuum and blower ports would be functioning at the same time. You just need to attach the hose to whichever port is applicable to the job. Air will be drawn into the vacuum through the suction port and exit through the blower port. The debris that has been picked up by the vacuum should be captured by the filter. With the correct filter properly installed, only clean air would be exiting the exhaust. Installing an air diffuser (part number VT2525) would help diffuse the strength of the air and reduce the noise from the vacuum.

We hope this meets your needs. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800-474-3443) or you may send your email to [email protected]

Answer:
This vacuum does not have a switch from one function to the other. Both functions are working simultaneously when you power on the vacuum. You switch from blower to vacuum by disconnecting the hose from the back exhaust port and hooking it back up to the front intake port. Its has simple as that.
