Rated 1 out of 5 by from If you like loose fitting parts and handle you not suppose to lift from The top is designed to be loose. So when you pick it up by the handle there is at least 1/2 inch about of play in the lid and the barrel. I contacted ridig over this and was concerned that dirt and other crud could get in between the sealing area and the top. They said to not pick it up by the built in handle on top... but by the sides........ Which makes no sense to someone that just needs to move it. The the cost I was expecting a lot move vacuum power. But with a filter on it and bag inside for drywall dust, it was not that strong and i had to travel over the dust a bunch to get it to come up. I bought another smaller unit that with the same set up had no issues getting the dust up. Only thing I liked about it was the storage for the tools and the long cord. The hose seemed too large as it was hard to hold in my hands and get it to move when cleaning up the floors. I did a lot of research on a vacuum, but none of the reviews mentioned the loose top or the harder to use hose and tube extensions or the no using of the top handle or you may break the side clips. I have owned other brands of shop vac for years. Only reason we wanted to get another brand was to see if its better. It was not. the other shop vac did a far better job with no hassles. We abused them 1000s of times with way too much stuff or water or dust. Clogged the innner filter to point of no suction and left on back of truck day and night. They only thing that did those in was the fan blades just got eat up to point of not working any more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great suction and quiet Easy to set up and surprisingly quiet compared to the blue brand. Extra long power cord is great but wished the hose was a little longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product is very good I used a Lowes Shop Vac for years. I recently purchased the Ridgid vac and it was much better than the Shop Vac. More suction power, because of the top handle easier to move and the tool holder was good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compared to Old Vac This one is far better in noise. It's about 25-40% less noise (no formal measure, but I can run without feeling like I need ear protection) and it not quite loud as a standard household vacuum. Perfect balance of power/suction to noise level. I would buy this one compared to anything on the market less than $300 and it's only around $100 so it's a no-brainer if you need a new vacuum. Assembly is easy. The only small change I would make is to increase the size of the wheels that is comes with so that it will roll over extension cord. Has a good long cord on the unit, but I need another 50 ft cord for rolling around the basement. Excellent Rigid product!!

What are the decibel levels for the WD1450 and the WD1851

Asked by: mkaibel
uhhh...call me lame, but a "decible meter" is NOT a piece of equip. that anyone I know (including myself) would tend to purchase...so I can't answer this question. IF the owners manuel lists the decible level, I'm not about to go fish for that info. Sorry. That's an unusual question to ask a custormer. Decible level? Really?

can i wet vac with paper filter

Asked by: jerryrusty
It is not recommended. Depending on your use you can remove the pleated paper filter or purchase a sponge type filter that will replace the pleated paper filter.

hoses

Will the WD1450 accept standard non locking hoses as well?
Asked by: dresnik
I had an extra hose from my last vac and it fit, but I believe I had to use the 3 piece adapter kit.

What is the duty cycle for WD1450?

Our new porch with insulated floor has water trapped between flooring deck and plastic sheeting over floor joists, and I need to get rid of the water before laying carpet. Since the flooring panels are tongue/groove, it would be extremely difficult to remove, so I am using my shop vac to draw water from a wet seam with the utility nozzle... hopefully, this works. I have run it for 10 minutes without any sign of overheating, but I would like to know how long it can run before needing a rest. Duty cycle isn't specified, but if it is 100%, I expect I can run it hours rather than minutes. An expert opinion from Ridgid would be greatly appreciated.
Asked by: FoxMan
Hi FoxMan, We do not have the duty cycle - you have defined as how long it can run before needing a rest published. However, we have received testimonies from customers who have used this vacuum overnight in cleaning up flooded basements without any problems. This involved the cycle of filling up the drum and dumping out the water all through the night. To prevent the vacuum from overheating, it is strongly recommended that you read and fully understand the safety instructions on the owner’s manual. It is important to NOT leave Vac running while UNATTENDED - you may fail to notice important signs indicating abnormal operation such as loss of suction, debris/liquid exiting exhaust, or abnormal motor noises. Immediately stop using Vac if you notice these signs. You may also want to use other accessories that can draw water from the wet seam. The narrower the end and the closer you can get to the water, the better. You may also use the blower feature of you WD1450 to help dry the surface. Hopefully these tips help. For any further questions or concerns you may call customer service at the number above or you may send your email to [email protected] Regards, RIDGID
