Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great vac for the basement! We bought this vac for our basement to pick up cat hair and stray litter. We also bought the floor brush attachment and it works great. The fine dust filter is a definite plus. We haven't used it for vacuuming water and hope we never have to. I would recommend to friends and family.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice quiet machine Like I said, nice quiet machine. Appears to be built to last like my other rigid tools. Got the new unit home, assembled it in minutes and did a fantastic job of cleaning up before my wife caught me. Will report at a later date as to how the misses likes it......

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Takes A Beating I use this unit in a commercial/industrial environment as both a wet and dry vac. It gets heavy use on a weekly basis. For me the unit lasts only about a year before the motor gives out. The tub and tools hold up well. I also have one at home that I use for vacuuming out cars, boat, and my shop. It gets periodic use. I have had it about 8 years now and it is still going strong. Two features that I particularly like about it are the long power cord and the ability to change filters without tools. I also appreciate that the tools are durable and hold up well. The one feature I do not like about Rigid ShopVacs is that there are no customer service centers. If you need warranty service you have to ship the unit to Cleveland and prepay the freight both ways.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've only had it a couple of weeks so I'm hoping it is durable I've only had it a couple of weeks but so far I love it! It is very powerful, It even sucked up things I didn't want it to get but I didn't see them in time, so if you have any infants laying around and put them up before you use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy access to tools and love the long cord! One item that needs to be addressed is the casters. With other models there have been sleeves provided to use in the event you want the casters to be stationery vs. them falling out when the unit is lifted (they simply fall out). What's nice about the sleeves is that they are easily removable but will still allow the casters to not fall out if the unit is tilted or completely lifted off the ground. The sleeves are usually a durable plastic composite material and simply slide directly over top of the rod or leg on the caster itself and then just slide into the plastic piece. Again, they are sturdy enough to stay in but not so tight you can't pull them out either. That would be a nice feature to have because it's annoying when you are using the wet/dry vac and when you have to carry it the casters simply all fall out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy on/off switch and simple. House has a basement that got flooded during hard rain. We started with buckets, after we knew we had to buy a rigid vac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good vac and very powerful picking up debri The vacuum is great although they could have made the casters on the bottom more heavier duty. they only last about a year then they start rubbing the caster covers, which makes it harder to roll. This vacuum has more suction power than any other vacuum out there!

What are the decibel levels for the WD1450 and the WD1851

Asked by: mkaibel
uhhh...call me lame, but a "decible meter" is NOT a piece of equip. that anyone I know (including myself) would tend to purchase...so I can't answer this question. IF the owners manuel lists the decible level, I'm not about to go fish for that info. Sorry. That's an unusual question to ask a custormer. Decible level? Really?

can i wet vac with paper filter

Asked by: jerryrusty
It is not recommended. Depending on your use you can remove the pleated paper filter or purchase a sponge type filter that will replace the pleated paper filter.

hoses

Will the WD1450 accept standard non locking hoses as well?
Asked by: dresnik
I had an extra hose from my last vac and it fit, but I believe I had to use the 3 piece adapter kit.

What is the duty cycle for WD1450?

Our new porch with insulated floor has water trapped between flooring deck and plastic sheeting over floor joists, and I need to get rid of the water before laying carpet. Since the flooring panels are tongue/groove, it would be extremely difficult to remove, so I am using my shop vac to draw water from a wet seam with the utility nozzle... hopefully, this works. I have run it for 10 minutes without any sign of overheating, but I would like to know how long it can run before needing a rest. Duty cycle isn't specified, but if it is 100%, I expect I can run it hours rather than minutes. An expert opinion from Ridgid would be greatly appreciated.
Asked by: FoxMan
Hi FoxMan, We do not have the duty cycle - you have defined as how long it can run before needing a rest published. However, we have received testimonies from customers who have used this vacuum overnight in cleaning up flooded basements without any problems. This involved the cycle of filling up the drum and dumping out the water all through the night. To prevent the vacuum from overheating, it is strongly recommended that you read and fully understand the safety instructions on the owner’s manual. It is important to NOT leave Vac running while UNATTENDED - you may fail to notice important signs indicating abnormal operation such as loss of suction, debris/liquid exiting exhaust, or abnormal motor noises. Immediately stop using Vac if you notice these signs. You may also want to use other accessories that can draw water from the wet seam. The narrower the end and the closer you can get to the water, the better. You may also use the blower feature of you WD1450 to help dry the surface. Hopefully these tips help. For any further questions or concerns you may call customer service at the number above or you may send your email to [email protected] Regards, RIDGID
