Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of Suction & Easy to roll Easy and convenient to use. Would suggest the designers look at the hose...it is unwieldy. Otherwise, a good product for using to clean up (dry) basement floors and crawl space. Well priced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Best bang for your buck. The detachable blower makes this a no brainer purchase,.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wheels are way to small to traverse an extension cord so I modified with bigger casters and it could use a better swivel for the hose so it does not g More power would be nicer for such a large vacuum. And it could use a wider floor attachment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Vac I've always had cheap wet/dry vacs and this blows all of them out of the water. First off it is much quieter than I expected. Without earplugs you can use this in a small room with little to no worry about it being too loud. Every other vac that I've used seemed to have an a master plan to give the world tinnitus. It also does a very good job picking up water without spraying it all over the room out of the exhaust port. The dust collection isn't the best with the included filter, but there are better filter options available and changing it out is a piece of cake. The filter bags are also great, so far they've been collecting all of the drywall and joint compound dust from my bathroom project without an issue. The leaf blower option is nice and makes blowing the garage out quick and painless. I already have a gas blower, so it's not going to get used much out in the yard. The general construction of the vac seems solid. It's a little annoying that it's got the recessed molded handles and a rim that has a folded over lip at the top because you really need to shake it to get all of the dust out. The casters are a little small and do not work well on carpet and they stop dead if you try to roll over the power cord. My only other gripe is that you have to create a 2nd account to register this vac for the lifetime warranty if you have already registered any Ridgid Power Tools (drills, saws, etc) account because the vacs are "Rigid Professional Tools" and not power tools. All-in-all I would recommend this vac to anyone in the market for a new wet/dry vac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Detachable blower seems to have as much power as my handheld gas blower This is the third Shop-Vac of this sort that I've had previous ones have lasted 7 to 10 years, if that speaks to the durability of these products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Regret the purchase. Regret the purchase. Didn’t buy it for the blower option, got swayed by the free extra attachments. Regardless, the thing is flimsy and not well thought out to use in the real world. The reconnect to barrel is a joke. The barrel is rimmed and makes it impossible to empty. The attachment housing makes no sense and doesn’t hold anything securely. However, it is powerful and might last awhile. I’ve owned and still have another 16 gallo ridgid vac that I’ve had for 15 Years now. This purchase was to be my primary vac, but now I’ve considered it the back up. Just get one that doesn’t have this bell n whistles waste of time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good consumer reports, strong suction, strong blower, a little heavy for some people who are smaller in stature. Good consumer reviews, strong suction, strong blower, a little heavy for some people who are smaller in stature. This is a good, big, hefty vac.. The detachable blower is very powerful however was quite heavy for me. I am a 5 foot woman, 125 pounds, 69 years old. My freestanding electric blower is more lightweight. With any shop vac, the attachments, cord, Can be cumbersome, especially in tight spaces to roll around. It rolls easily and assembly was simple. The large tub means it is quite heavy when full so I have to stop when half full of matter (in my case dry goat droppings). The warranty registration on line was puzzling as it asked me to register with a unique name, also provide my email and choose a password. After registering it asked me to log in but did not recognize me. I never got a confirmation email. May try again to register, but not confident in that process.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Combo idea I needed and blower, I needed a shop-vac; I got two for one and saved about $100. And the power is more than I had expected, right on!

starter ... on/off ... switch is not operating properly

hi ... have the wd1665 model of the 16 gallon wet/dry vac. this unit has been great, but now notice that when i switch the unit ON, sometimes I have to giggle it a little to get it to start. Any ideas on how to correct? Do these switches wear out? thanks.
Asked by: glb225
Switches can go bad and wear out. It could be just a loose connection also? I would first spray some alcohol into the switch itself and around the switch housing because sometimes the contacts of the switch get dirty. Let this dry for a minute or two and then try it and see if it works. If not then If the machine is not under warranty you should be able to take it apart by removing some screws and the unit should separate into two pieces. This should also give you access to the switch. From their you can determine if it's a loose connection or a bad switch? Hope this helps?

I HAVE CHANGED THE FILTER, CHECKED THE HOSE FOR DEBRIS, AND THE HOSE INTAKE PORT. MY VACUUM IS STILL WORKING AT ABOUT %50.

I have only had my unit for about a month and used it very little.

Thank you for contacting RIDGID® Customer Support. There are a number of reasons your vac may have reduced suction power. We recommend that you check the following: 1 – The most common reason for reduced performance is a clogged filter that is full of debris. Please check the condition of your filter – you may need to either clean or replace your filter. 2 - The drain cap could be loose or missing. You should check the connections. 3 – The hose may have holes or could be clogged – you should check the condition of your hose and clean or replace if necessary. 4 - The float (which is the device inside the filter cage beneath the filter) could be stuck in the upward position. Check the float - it should be moving freely. 5 – The drum is not secure to the power head. You should check to insure that the drum is properly secured to the power head. If the above recommendations do not solve your problem, please contact us and we can attempt to troubleshoot the vacuum with you. Also, if its within 90 days, you may return the vac at Home Depot for an exchange. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to call us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800- 474-3443) or you may send your email to [email protected] Regards, RIDGID

can i use my 16 G, blower vac too for blow in fiber insulation?

trying to use the blower feature, but am not sure if this is possible with this model, already bought and extra 8' line, (16' total line), as the area is tight, but improperly insulated. the filter seems as it will deter this and removing the filter i think may clog up the motor. thank you in advance for all responses.
Asked by: darool
I would advise against what you are trying to do. This blower is not designed to blow things through the device. You could try to build a "fill system" and connect it to the hose itself. I am not sure if it will work, but I would give that a try before blowing insulation through the actual motor unit.

How do I hook an attachment to the blower?

My blower has, what looks like a vent, where the attachment should go. I cant seem to remove the vent part.
Asked by: Kathy
Did you get or can you locate your owners manual for your vac? You might even be able to go on the rigid web site and download the owners manual for your device? This should tell you how to hook up an attachment to your blower. You might even be able to find a YouTube video on it? Who knows their are videos on just about anything these days? My blower attachment locks into the blower port. Mine works like this I push the blower attachment into the blower port and then turn it clockwise until it locks into place which is great because you don't have to worry about it falling off or the blower blowing it off like on my older sears model I have. Hope this helps!
