Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very light and extremely portable and high on power. This dry/vac is excellent for use on multiple simultaneous projects. The length of the hose makes the wheels a must and the attachments are adequate. I would prefer a brush head to the wide area attachment. I purchased a universal adapter for the larger Ridgid dry/vac iI own but it is designed for smaller attachments only. I had to modify it so I could use my larger tool assortment. In short, big power and big results in a compact dry/vac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little vacuum for portability or space saving I already own a 16 gal Ridgid Vac with cart attachment, but I wanted something more portable for my shop and when I work on maintenance projects away from the workshop. The 16 gal unit is currently connected as part of a dust collection set in my workshop, so I bought 2 of the 4 gallon units, and I am pretty pleased, overall. The smaller sets come with a fine particle filter, which is better than the filter than came with my bigger vac, and part of the reason I bought them. I just built an audio control booth and needed something that would do a good job vacuuming up drywall dust and wood shavings, and these guys handle it without an issue. The hose is smaller than the bigger vacs, but it works well. It might cause issues if trying to hook this up to a workshop, but as a portable vac it's perfect. It's also pretty light and convenient. My bigger vac has a muffler filter on the exhaust which makes it a bit quieter, and these 4 gallon vacs do not have that, and they seem to run louder. They do have great suction, however, so I got over it quickly. My only real complain right now is that one of the units won't turn on. I am not sure what happened, but the motor just won't start when I plug it in and flip the switch. Other than that, I am very pleased with all my Ridgid vacuum purchases so far, and recommend them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from very well made wet-dry vac As a contractor, I wanted it to be easily carried from job to job. It is. It needed it to be semi-quiet in use in the customer's home. It is. Storage of 20' cord is good--out of the way. Hose storage average. Gave 4 stars only because it rolls around in the bed of my truck--all over the place. However, that factor does make it easy to pull in the shop and houses. Excellent suction--As good as my 6.5 hp Ridgid shop vac. I own many, many Ridgid tools; you can't go wrong. Highly recommend!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light Weight and easy to get it where you need it. The 4 Gallon 4.5 HP dry and wet Vac is easy to carry and has a long power cord making it easy to use. The hose is long enough but, a little stiff. It has very good suction and is reasonably quiet. The only limitation is the 4 Gal capacity which makes the dry vac bag a little small.

Seeing as there is no foam filter with this unit, will it damage the vacuum to remove the filter for vacuuming up liquid?

Asked by: Timj
Absolutely! There must be a foam filter on the unit when vacuuming up liquids to prevent debris from getting in to the impeller.

replacement / different filters

it seems like all the filters you sell are for the larger vacs, are there any filters available to purchase for this vacuum if we need to replace the stock one or want a different filter? thanks

How often do I need to change the filter?

I have been cleaning out the ducs in my house and the one I got with the machine today already looks very dirty.
Asked by: bama97202
not sure, I use the bags for dry pick up only and the filter stays clean. You can feel the bag to see if getting full. For filter, suggest once a year if you use it to clean air ducts only...doesn't sound like you use it a lot. filters can last a long time and look like they are very dirty. You can take the filter off and tap it inside a garbage bag and run fingers over the filter to get some dirt, dust cobwebs off.

How do you clean the power head

and after removing the filler I noticed that a good amount of dust collects around the filler . I believe this happens when a bag is not used. In which I plan to do. I'm new to the product this will be my first time using it, being so Ied like to clean it thoroughly, for I'll be using inside my house.
Asked by: Donarp
Unless you are using it as a wet vac make sure to use a clean filter that is properly installed, (it's simple), and if need be wipe down the motor housing with a damp, not wet, cloth with the unit unplugged.

Did I get a dud?

I have had this unit for a very short time with light use......partly because I cant get to suck anything. I purchased to suck up water from when my washer leaked and it picked up nothing.....also when trying to suck up dry materials. it wouldn't even pick up a penny off the floor...Am I doing something wrong? When I remove the hose the suction is very strong...but when the hose is attached the suction is very poor...
Asked by: JenniferCordova
Check your hose for a blockage. I just checked mine and it easily sucks up quarters off the floor.
