Rated 1 out of 5 by from Light and simple to use As a 30 year contractor/construction guy. I bought this with the high expectations it was a quality built tool like the rest of the ridged line. Boy I got awake up. This is one step away from black and decker. I’d be ashamed to let a friend or employee use this. I’d have to fire the design team on this one. No power, the belt tension is slim to none. The speed at which the belt turns full throttle is about as fast as a turtle can run. Very disappointing!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I have used RIGID tools for 35 years but this sander is poor quality The second time I used this belt sander the plastic switch failed and was told to send it in for repairs which could take a month +. In the mean time I have a large project on hold! $$$$$

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very easy to handle I purchased this sander to replace the one that quit working. It doesn't have as much power but the smoothness of operation makes up for that. The dust collection system works great but bag is a little small. Just have to empty it more often because it works so good. I use it to sand old weathered wood to make furniture and craft items. Very smooth finish even with a 80grit belt.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great DIY Size and Performance This sander is a no-nonsense tool!. It simply does what you expect and does it well. The size and weight are perfect, and it has the excellent case grip material RIDGID is known for. The dust collection works well with the bag and excellent with vacuum attached. A carrying bag would be pure icing on the cake.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the price! I was looking for quite awhile for a good belt sander for my projects and this one fit the bill. Easy to operate and control and for the price I am very satisfied!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tough enough for everyday use I am reno-ing an old house and trying to preserve all of the solid wood doors. Weather and age have taken their toll on the doors but the damaged surfaces are no match for this belt sander. It provides a very smooth finish almost effortlessly and the integral dust collection is a good addition to this tool.

dust collection/clogging

we're using the sander to take off surface imperfections on df beams. the sander works great but the dust collection failed. we cleaned the bag regularly, blew out the duct, cleaned around the drum. we took off the bag and no particles are exiting the exhaust. what do we do?

Could this be a problem related to humidity? I live in a very dry climate and have not experienced this problem

Vacuum attachment hose size?

What vacuum hose diameter does this sander hook up to? Is it the same size as the random orbital 5 inch Ridgid sander?
Asked by: Joe123456
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID! The RIDGID R2740 belt sander has a 1-1/4” dust bag connector port, and the R2600 5” sander has the same size connection port inside its dust bag screw on connection fitting. Regards, RIDGID

Im looking for a case to put this in?

This did not come with a case. Is there a ridgid case thats very close to the dimensions. I measured approximately 14 x 7 x 7.
Asked by: jim68
Thanks for your question, jim68! I'm afraid that we do not offer a carrying case for this tool and are not aware of any that we do have that would be compatible for the R2740. I am sorry we couldn't be of more help. Thanks, RIDGIDSteve
