6-1/8 in. Jointer/Planer is rated out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by DustinM from This machine is a beast! This is a solid jointer. Assembly was straight to the point. The blades were pretty accurate out of the box. I did have a dial gauge, so I re-set all the blades to the exact height I wanted (probably unnecessary). The one comment I do have, is if you live a humid environment (I live in florida, and work out of my garage), make sure to put a good coat of lubricant on the top (something similar to Glidecoat) to keep it from developing rust. If you are on the fence, buy this Jointer!

Rated 4 out of 5 by itsme from This a reliable smooth cutting machine. Make sure you have adequate chip extraction with a high volume dust collector or be ready to stop often and remove chips. This is not the fault of the machine. It's doing what it was designed to do and does it well. It will leave you with a surface ready for finishing if you don't rush your work. I didn't give it a 5 star since the rabetting function comes up short when making multiple pass rabbets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BigP from Great tool, works perfectly. Very easy to setup and install, took very little configuration and is also easy to maintain. Solid extended fence is great for long pieces, jointed over 1000 peices of wood and is still working great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by refdad from Great Jointer, exceeds expectations for the Value Got this jointer from my local Home Depot with a discount by using my HD card. This made it an even better value. Set-up was easily accomplished follow Ridgid’s instructions. I had a job waiting to use that weekend. Tool made clean cuts, square and true. Dust collection was excellent. I highly recommend this tool.

What size is the dust port?
I want to hook up a dust collector. I would assume it's a 4" port, but want to confirm.
Yes, 4" port.

Creating Rabbets with the Joiner.
The manual describes creating wide rabbets but doesn't work as described unless you are making only one pass. Since I'm working in maple it needs to be shallow cuts. The project requires a 3/16" rabbet. The infeed table is 3/4 plus inches wider on the outer edge causing a misalignment between it and the outfeed tables outer edge. When creating rabbets in incremental passes as directed in the instructions in the manual the infeed table being wider causes the board to enter the knives at an angle creating a tapered cut since the outer edge of the board is higher than the inside edge against the fence. This is not good and can't possibly work as described. Do you have any suggestions. I tried following the instructions and on a 3 3/4" inch wide rabbet. It yields a cut that is about 1/32 inch narrower on the edge nearest the fence when taking 1/16" cuts in two passes.
The JP0610 jointer-planers in-feed table is designed to be wider than the out-feed table, in support of the wood stock up to the point of where it contacts the spinning blades. The blades remove the material in a rabbeting cut, and then the wood slides onto the out-feed table where support for the stock is continued, until the entire length of the cut is completed. If the wood stock is contacting the blades at an angle, that would be due to either the fence not being square to the tables, the wood stock not being securely held in place on the in-feed table and against the fence, or the in-feed table having some type of alignment issue with the cutter head. The width of the in-feed table only service to supports the wood stock. dust vac chute
Do you make a reducer to attach a ridged 16 gallon shop vac
Thank you for contacting RIDGID. We have an adapter kit (VT1755 part number) that contains the reducer. One is from 2 ½” down to 1 7/8” and the other adapter is from 1 7/8” down to 1 ¼”. These are the only reducer adapters we have and you must check the size of the dust port of your planer to see if either of these will fit. This kit is available at Home Depot stores. Regards, RIDGID
