Rated 5 out of 5 by Blows away the competition There's NO pipe rench like a Rigid pipe wrench. They last a lifetime, have re-placeable jaws, take a lickin and keep on tickin. Fom 6"-60", the straight steel pipe wrench from Rigid blows away the competition. Great leverage, extremely durable. The only wrenches U will find in my Gangbox !!! so, throw away those "slippers", and get with the pro's. Get a complete set of Rigid Pipe Wrenches, and get the job done !!!! November 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Rigid Pipe Wrenches I have owned pipe wrenches all my life and I have had good ones and bad ones, but I have never owned a Rigid Pipe Wrench. I was using one of my old pipe wrenches last week and after slipping off multiple times and roughing up a knuckle, I decided it was time for a new pipe wrench. I went to one of my local home stores and picked up a Rigid 6", 12" and 24" Pipe Wrench. I don't know why it has taken me so many years to one one of these. I have never had pipe wrenches of this quality before. I highly recommend you go to your tool box and throw away your old pipe wrenches and go get new Rigid pipe wrenches. November 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ain't nothing like it I've had my set of 14,18,24,36 since I've started working at my job, I install boilers and gas lines & oil lines constantly and have not had one problem with my ridgid pipe wrenches. I would not choose any other. They've lasted me 9 years already and aren't slowing down. November 25, 2014

Answer:
We've attached 4' "cheater" bars to the end of the wrenches with 220 lbs + gentlemen pushing down on the ends. The "cheater" bar has always broken before these wrenches have. For a straight answer - I don't know since I've never hooked up a torque wrench to one...

I was curious if Rigid was planning on doing any testing on the heavy duty wrench heads, in regards to work hardening or stress splitting of the upper jaw. More specifically the area where the upper jaw turns into a threaded neck, the 90 degree area shearing off of the teeth. We have recently seen this phenomenon happening in our shop...

Answer:
Thank you for contacting RIDGID. We perform regular evaluations of all tool components to make sure they meet our quality standards.

When an upper wrench jaw breaks at the radius, it is likely due to the force being exerted against this point. There should only be 2 contact points with the pipe, the upper jaw and the lower jaw. If a 3rd contact point is made against the hook jaw radius, failure can occur.

If you would like further assistance, please feel free to call our Technical Service department at 888-743-4333.
