flaring tool does not work

I bought a 50, 40 and 32mm hammer type faring tools for flaring copper. I went to use them for a job and they are too big to slide into the copper pipe they are designed to fit. I am extremely disappointed and have just gone back to using my other flaring tool which does the job fine. I am unsure as to why they don't fit into the size they state they are for. hoping to hear back. Cheers Jake
