Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by extremely handy I recently purchased the 800 LMI. In my line of work I do a lot of machinery alignment. The laser feature is what sold me on this. It works extremely well and makes the job easy. Whether aligning the faces of several different peices, or using it as a plumb bob, It works well. The accuracy for a small level is great and its compact size lets me store it just about anywhere. The aluminum body is tough and I have little worries about it getting damaged. The magnets allow it be attached to anything securely and without worry of it moving. For my application, the five vials seems to be a bit much, I'm good with 0, 90 and 45. But in more of a construction application, I can see where the others may come in handy. November 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by 5 Vial Laser Level I believe I paid roughly $100 and that was about a year ago and the vertical/horizontal vials are still plumb (I very rarely have to use the angled vials). I am especially fond of the horizontal plumb vial as it actually has a fall/foot measurement in 1/8" increments which is fantastic for those trades that require slope. The laser feature only beams parallel to the length of the level (it would be great if there was an attachment that could also beam perpendicular to the length of the level but as far as I know there isn't) which I've truthfully only found useful for getting rod measurements when the ceiling is has uneven elevations. The laser requires 3AAA batteries and it does last a very long time, however to turn the laser feature on, theres a little brass plug on the end of the laser with a thread on it which you have to thread IN to turn on, and to turn off you have to back the plug off which I'm not entirely fond of as ive accidentally left the laser feature on all day from time to time and killed the battery. Rated 5 out of 5 by Well made , but vials are aa little small A well made product, like the checkpoints. Magnets are very strong, it is almost difficult to remove at times. I just find the vials difficult to read in low light conditions. (probablyy because i'm an old man) November 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by THe aluminum I-beam Level it so great. . THe aluminum I-beam Level it so great .. I used it to my hard work and my wife used it to her craft because it's light weight . November 24, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for any handyman or professional contractor! My husband loves his laser level! He has had it for about 3 months and the light is still going strong! It's perfect for when he is installing basements. The magnets help the level adhere to his metal brackets, which helps free up his hands! It's also perfect for when I just him to install a few pictures around the home! November 24, 2014

Answer:
There are a number of different applications, but the overall use of the laser on a level is to project a point across a wide span.
One example would be as follows: If I had a pipe I was installing and I wanted to make a hole for it across the room I would put the level on the pipe and mark the opposite wall at the point where the laser hit (less the distance of the laser to the pipe ). This would allow my pipe to line up correctly once I reach that point.

Hope this helps clarify for you. Just let us know if you have any other questions.

Answer:
I've also used it for getting rod measurements when the ceiling changes in elevation. I've also used it to line up swing joints in tight ceilings. I usually keep a short gunner piece of pipe on me with a thread to attach my level to. There's nothing worse than trying to catch those long pieces of pipe by yourself in an already congested ceiling space and having to constantly move back and forth wrenching in/out a fitting so that you can finally get that long piece of pipe caught. I must admit this level has saved me this aggravation on many of occasions.

Answer:
With fresh batteries I've been able to see the laser clearly at 100' even on a well lit job site. Its a great laser pointer when your trying to explain something to someone from the ground and easier to manipulate than stretching your tape measure 10 feet in the air trying to point at something.
