Rated 3 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible time saver and easy to use. I don't own the machine because my friend beat me to it, but he insisted I use it as my own. I used it to shape-sand 18 pieces of 3/4" plywood that I cut for a wine rack in a pattern I devised to eliminate waste cutoffs by cutting them on my band saw. The band saw work took two hours; the sanding using the Ridgid Oscillating Spindle sander took me 30-minutes and was perfect. My friend doesn't want me to buy one of these sanders because he wants me to use his equipment so that he can use my fly-fishing drift boat. The sander is incredibly easy to use and control. I still want my own! January 14, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Needs mechanism to hold spindle while removing tightening screw Very good machine except very difficult to remove tightening screw on spindle. Need a way to prevent spindle from turning while removing tightening screw. December 22, 2013

Motor failures

Several reviewers on the Home Depot web site spoke of motor failures ( burn up) with the Oscillating Edge Belt Sander. Is this an ongoing issue? Have the motor problems been corrected? What recourse will I have if I purchase the sander and have a similar issue with the motor? Another stated problem was the sanding belt would not stay in track. Is this a problem with the design of the tracking mechanism? Again, what recourse do I have if I have a similar problem? The reviews were filed since the beginning of 2013.
