Rated 1 out of 5 by from parts break too soon I should have read reviews before getting this sander. I was sanding away as normal when i lost torque on the pad and it spins freely like a grinding wheel. its impossible to use now and who knows when parts may be replaced? i mey just end up returning it since ive only had it for 3 weeks

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very weak waste of money to buy Very weak ... I love my ridgid 5in sander figured this would be just as good or better and it’s such a letdown and I’ve used it on a project and feel bad returning it it’s really a waste of a product to buy. Can’t tell u about durability only used it once but just doesn’t have the power behind it for the projects that call for a 6in sander

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5yrs with no issues I have owned several orbital sanders over the years, popular name brands all. This is the best and most durable and efficient one to date. After 5yrs of use, it still preforms as new. The ONLY issue I have had is with the adapter for the dust collection/shop vac hose. I had to "fiddle with it a few times for it to stay in place during operation in the higher speeds.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rigid refuses to acknowledge or repair pad issues I read the reviews and bought the sander anyway. I wrote to Rigid customer service about the reviews believing they could see what I saw n the reviews and realize there was a defective pad pattern. I was told by Tim there is no noted problem with the pad and Tim sent me an extra pad. Good thing. I was using the sander on a small table. Using light pressure as they have blamed users for the misuse in some replies. After about four total hours of use of this brand new sander I went to change the grit and pulled the sandpaper from the hook and loop....or i thought. I actually pulled the hook and loop pad away from the pad itself. I don't know if it's a glue issue or what. I replaced the pad easy enough, but can't believe Rigid doesn't believe there's a problem with the pad. The sander jumps around a bit but I can work with it. I don't get it, everyone is saying you have an issue with the pad, but you won't fix it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my R2611 sander. It has proven to perform very well and is very rugged. I purchased my R26111 sander about 15 years ago. I have used it for many many hours for extended periods of time. The pad did come apart last year but after all the hours of use that did not surprise me. I have never had a problem finding various grit 6" disks from 40 to 1500 grit. I was bummed today when the bolt that connects the motor to the pad sheared off but nothing lasts forever. I would like to get the part and repair the sander if I can figure out how to get the broken bolt out. I would expect to get a few more hundred/thousand hours out of it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't last Same as most everyone else, short time, then coming apart, but a step further...Replaced broken backer pad, and 2 weeks later small bolt connecting pad orbital assembly to motor sheared off inside. HD no help on return, have to wait however many weeks for a maybe repair, or buy a new sander. Guess what I'm doing. Bummed, thought upgrading to this brand was going to take things to the next level. Don't purchase if you need a sander more than a few months.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Premature failure - can't get parts The backing pad came apart after ~20 hours of use. There is no way to order the part 305189001. This is the second Ridgid power tool that has failed prematurely.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not enough grit availablity Make more heavier grit paper for this machine. 36/ 40/ 50 grit paper would be really helpful, especially given the price of this palm sander.

Why do the sanding pads not adhere to the Hook and Loop Backing Pad?

The sanding pads I was able to get stopped adhering to the Hook and Loop Backing Pad about half way through sanding the wood on my deck. Help? Also, I could not find 6-hole pads, only 8-hole so the holes on the pads do not line up with the Hook and Loop Backing Pag holes. Is that usual?
Asked by: MartyWill
I have never had a problem finding the correct pads. Our local HD has them. My pads adhere so strongly after many hours of use that I almost need pliers to get them off. The dust control system works when the holes are lined up properly.
