Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great router! I like all of the features of the router. The only downsides are the availability of a plunge base and a base that accepts guide bushings. I would like to see Ridgid make those available in an accessory kit?? June 11, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good product but.......... This is a good product with lots of nice features. However, upon inspecting the contents of the box and trying to install the edge guide I noticed that both guide bars are bent. One bar is so bad I can't use the edge guide. The bars themselves are not made of flimsy material either. Where was the quality control Ridgid? Very disappointed! April 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best trim router on the market I shopped around for trim routers and I looked a lot of other brands and decided on this one because of the way it felt in my hands, this is really easy to use, I love the round base with the option to use a square base. This has a lot of power and is very easy to control, you really can not go wrong with this. I have had this for 2 years now and couldn't be happier. February 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by palm router Need to offer a plunge base for it. The competition has them. Otherwise it is the best palm router out there. December 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well ballanced smart design Light weight, easy to operate and smartly designed. Nice addition to the Rigid power tool line. December 3, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by High quality tool I’ve used this tool for several months now as a woodworking hobbyist and it does everything my large router can do. It fits my hand and does a better job in many applications. I looked/held all the other “trim” routers and this one just felt good in my hand. I especially like the height adjustment and the ease of changing bits. Also, Ridgid’s “Life Time Warranty” is unbeatable November 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This product is easy to use and is heavy duty This product is great to use, it has a good grip. It would be nice if it had a little bit more power but for a small router you can't get much better. I have dropped it a few times and it's heavy duty, it can take a pounding and won't quit on you. November 25, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great for quick simple jobs the acrylic base makes it easy to see where youre working, this works great for little jobs when I don't want the big router off the table November 25, 2014

Answer:
The R2401 is designed as a trim router. It does not have the same design parameters as a full size router, which commonly uses larger various profile/shaped bits for the shaping of wood.

Thank you

Answer:
It's actually as the name states a trim router. The task you want would cause a lot of vibration while cutting. You can slowly use the cutter and cut out the base to fit the bit but this tool was not really designed to do this task. Do your self a favour if you're gonna do it get better bits not the cheap ones as they are not balanced properly and really vibrate. Remember to take 4 or 5 light passes not 1 or 2 heavy ones.

I purchased this device for some light trim work -- and it performs admirably. It would be helpful, though, to be able to mount it on a lightweight table for more productive work.

Any chance for that?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

RIDGID does not make or market a router table, and there is not one on the market that RIDGID can specifically advise of as accepting the RIDGID R2401 trim router, which is designed and marketed for use in a trim router application.

Answer:
Rockler makes a trim router table, the sales person at Rockler said it should accept this trim router but if it didn't I could always buy a acrylic base and make my own adapter, too much work for something that just looks like a bad idea to begin with. You will do better with a full size table and router.

Answer:
No, RIDGID dos not offer a plunge base or an adaptor that provides that feature for the R2401 trim router. That would be a feature commonly associated with full size routers.
