Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for finish work I love this router, it's great for taking a project to the next level. I use mine alot to finish off some cnc work. Basically the 1/4" round over bit almost never leaves the chuck. But I have alot used it for flush cutting laminate, and even countersinking hinges into new door jams. Its a one handed tool, so the other hand is left free to brace material or move clamps. The build in LED is great for tight spaces. This thing is a must for finish work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great product Had it for 3 years and use it alot .The only downside is I bought it at homedepot and they didnt tell me i had 90 days to regester for the lifetime. Now im stuck with a broken tool because the left plastic screw popped off and I put it back on and it cracked .It should come automatically with the lifetime warranty when you buy it .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice - Except It Does Not Accept 1 3/16" Guide Bushings I really like this tool and it has worked well on a project rounding over the edge of 3/4" Baltic birch. However, I do want to make some detailed depth cuts using a template and guide bushings, but this router base's opening is 1 7/16" and standard Porter-Cable style guide bushings (the kind that are commonly available) need a smaller 1 3/16" base opening. What a bummer. What is one to do? Why not make a tool that accepts standard guide bushings like other major brands...? I really don't want to return this tool, but don't see what options I have at this point.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great router I use these as the power heads on my end router. I get excellent life. I really like that the collet is true as I do a lot of fine detail. Is there a 1/8 inch collet available?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bang for the buck great router for edge trimming and small reveals. Only negatives, No plunge router base or adapter. Competition has it beat on that option. Not a fan of the soft sided case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great router! I like all of the features of the router. The only downsides are the availability of a plunge base and a base that accepts guide bushings. I would like to see Ridgid make those available in an accessory kit??

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good product but.......... This is a good product with lots of nice features. However, upon inspecting the contents of the box and trying to install the edge guide I noticed that both guide bars are bent. One bar is so bad I can't use the edge guide. The bars themselves are not made of flimsy material either. Where was the quality control Ridgid? Very disappointed!

A Router Table for this product

I purchased this device for some light trim work -- and it performs admirably. It would be helpful, though, to be able to mount it on a lightweight table for more productive work. Any chance for that?
Asked by: Elroy
Rockler makes a trim router table, the sales person at Rockler said it should accept this trim router but if it didn't I could always buy a acrylic base and make my own adapter, too much work for something that just looks like a bad idea to begin with. You will do better with a full size table and router.

Why doesn't this fit some of the 1/4" trim Router bit that the other brands accept, like a 1/2" round - over bit? The hole in the base is too small.

Is there a good reason for that? Can I enlarge the hole myself?
Asked by: Mark
It's actually as the name states a trim router. The task you want would cause a lot of vibration while cutting. You can slowly use the cutter and cut out the base to fit the bit but this tool was not really designed to do this task. Do your self a favour if you're gonna do it get better bits not the cheap ones as they are not balanced properly and really vibrate. Remember to take 4 or 5 light passes not 1 or 2 heavy ones. Ron G

Will there ever be a base attachment ?

Is there anything in the works on making a plunge base attachment I own the dewalt 611 and use its brother pc450 everyday at work. when sign making and removing very little material with 1/8 1/16 inch bits i prefer not to use my full size router. I love the size and power of this router and if there was a plunge attachment I wouldn't of even bought the dewalt 611 just wondering if one will ever be developed in the near future
Asked by: Cbruno0987
Thank you for contacting RIDGID. At this time there are no plans for a base for use with the RIDGID R2401 trim router. Thank you for the suggestion, we will take it under consideration for future development.

Will it cut grooves and dados?

Will this trim router cut long grooves and dados? I purchased this router and it came with one collet wrench. Should it come with two? Is this router a 1 1/2 HP router? thank you
Asked by: nairda
The R2401 is considered to be a trim router. Yes, it can be used to cut shallow grooves and dado type slots in wood. Thank you RIDGID
