Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent shop vac at a great value This is my first shop vac. Honestly I was surprised at how easily this thing cleaned up all of my woodworking chips and sawdust in my garage. I don’t know how I lived without it! The attachments help tailor the vac to the mess, but I could have cleaned up my shop easily with just the tube itself. Great value, definitely recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many improvments over 20 years Purchased a new wet/dry shop vac. Many improvements over 20 years. Wheels are much better. The cord is much longer and more heavy duty. Nice drain, which I never had before. No more "Mickey mouse" on/off switch. Plenty of tools come with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Vacuum This Vac really sucks! (In a good way) Has very strong suction. Only thing missing is a way of keeping all the attachments I have with the unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is a warranty replacement I clean the filter on my vacuum frequently so I was disappointed when my first vacuum failed. After disassembling the vacuum I discovered that the foam gasket attached to the inside of the motor housing was installed too low to create a seal. So dust was able to get between the filter housing and the motor housing thus bypassing the filter causing the motor to fail. When I pointed this out to customer service a new vacuum was promptly sent to me. Before using the new vacuum for the first time I ran a bead of silicone caulk around the joint where the filter housing attaches to the motor housing. That should prevent any dust from bypassing the filter. So I expect this new unit to last a long time. I'm only giving 4 stars because I believe this is an assembly flaw that I hope Ridgid will correct. My thanks to customer service for replacing my vacuum promptly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has good suction, good capacity. Bought this vacuum for both sawdust in my wood shop and vacuum up melted snow off the cars from my garage floor. I purchased the vacuum with the extra water filter. Works well in vacuuming up the melted snow. Good selection of accessories. Large suction hoses. Easy to change from suction to blowing air.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lack-luster design. The concept of the Shopvac has not changed for many years. Yes they pick up dirt and debris, but mediocre in practical design. Producers could just make a few design alterations that may satisfy the un-impressed consumer such as me. Here are my suggestions: 1: Use larger 4" wheels that roll across its own cord. The small two inch wheels do not negotiate irregular surfaces let alone its own electrical cord. Pneumatically filled wheels would be best. 2: Design a more flexible vacuum hose. Cheap plastic is being used. It is nearly impossible to operate if used in a cooler environment. Better quality plastic and more flexible coil hose is needed. 3: Another thing is the rotating fittings at either end of the hose. They do not rotate smoothly; especially after time, when grit penetrates the coupling. 3: Have better stow capacity on-board the vac. The problem is where to store the hose, attachments and electrical cord when not in use. A clip for the flexible hose is needed. A better system for the power cord is needed. And finally a creative design to store the many attachments offered. The Shark brand has been the genius behind the household vacuumn revolution. I currently own 7 vacuumes of diffent designs that are used at my home and business. I am constantly on the lookout for an industrial Shopvac which meets my needs. Take a study of their success. Perhaps Ridgid could be the first and set a new trend of ingeniously designed vacuums inspired by their customers' needs.

how do I use the wet vac feature on my 12 gallon hp wet/dry vac

I lost my booklet and would like to pick up the last bit of water in the bottom of my hot tub after draining? My vac is not the new version.
Asked by: shopdummy
Take out the bag, put on the squeegee attachment, and have at it. Empty the vac when you are done and let dry before you insert the bag back in.

Is there supposed to be a rubber gasket or seal between the top and bottom? Mine doesn't have one.

Asked by: chbelt
No, the vac does not come with a gasket or seal between the vacuum head unit and the catch can.

How do you install VF3502 filter bag on the WD1270 vacuum?

In the previous question about bags for this model, the answer give was to use the VF3502 filter bags. However, the instructions for installing the bag on the 2 rib inlet tube don't match the anatomy of the WD1270, which has an inlet tube that is molded into the body at the bottom so the cardboard collar cannot be attached.
Asked by: haphaz
I noticed a slight variance in the instructions and the actual vacuum also. But not to worry, it still attaches between the two ribs just as the instructions say.

What is the Constant Runtime rating on this unit ?

I am wanting to use this at a Dust collection for my Xcarve CNC and want to know if I can run it for 3-4 hours at a time without doing damage to the motor.

Opt for a Grizzly product, they're quiet... way quieter than any shop vac on the market, and designed to run all day. If you're a serious woodworker, you probably already can attest to Grizzly product quality.
