Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 53 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Easy to carry and store I love Ridgid product. I bought this from HomeDepot, works great [suction], all accessories that came with are useful, but the hose is too short, cant clean your car and since it does not have wheels, you really need a longer hose while cleaning your car or floor. This is a great product to carry on to job site or to store it in the garage. Also two storage gate/lid feel very clumsy,, it may break. March 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by worth the money I was looking for a good quality and powerful compact shop vacuum that I could use for home projects and carry in my RV. I bought the extra 7-foot extension to allow for cleaning stairs and reach in the basement area of my RV and this unit has met my expiation's. The ability to carry attachments in the unit and the ability to use a vacuum bag along with the filter make the cleanup very handy. March 11, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Compact and powerful Great size. Rolls easy on casters and has excellent attachments. I use it for overall cleaning in my house. Have a bigger Rigid shop vac for the basement, garage, and for leaf blowing. February 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Compact unit, Big features... What a wonderful surprise. The suction of this unit packs a punch, constant suction and it goes after the smallest of dust in hard to reach areas. Supplied with all the attachments for any job site that tuck away into their own compartments. One of the biggest surprises is the weight of this vacuum and the square tool box design make it not only easy to handle but also stack with other like designs. Thank you RIDGID, nice job... February 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by nice compact unit very powerful for a small shop vacuum & all attachments plus hose fit inside vacuum. February 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Storage for cord and hose not large enough. Acordeain hose sucks in to it's self when unnder load. Some 300lb helper will use it as a stool and crush This vacuum was a gift and if I had bought it I would have taken it back. February 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by It small and fast Great product very helpful and the compact tool box look makes it easy to take everywhere great suction February 1, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great vacuum, flimsy compartment latches Boxy design makes it easy for this handyman to load it with tool boxes in my van. It is convenient to carry into houses and clean up after a job. It has a nice long power cord The clips on both ends to get access to the cord and tools are flimsy and do not operate easily. I am not sure how long they will last, but the rest of the vacuum seems to be good quality. I have a Ridgid account where I registered my other Ridgid tools, but had to create a new account to register the vacuum because it is in the plumbing department. Why can't Ridgid, as one company, have one log on for everything? January 18, 2015

I am wondering if I can use this vacuum to clean my pellet stove when the ashes are totally cold. Do I need an additional filter or do they have a specific filter for cleaning ashes?

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

Yes you can use the WD4550 on your cold pellet stove provided that the filter is properly installed. You might also want to use a dust bag for this vac, it is compatible with the VF3501

If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to contact us at 1-800-4-RIDGID (1-800-474-3443) or you may send your email to [email protected]

Answer:
Based on the filter type (VF5000 Fine Dust Filter) yes you could clean a "cold" pellet stove. However, if there are any embers you run the risk melting the container and/or causing fire.

I would purchase a vacuum specifically designed for wood stove ashes with a metal container just to be safe.

I already have two of the large vacuums, but am looking for a smaller portable with the Scroll Noise Reduction built in. It isn't always clear from the website which ones have it, so I would like to know for sure.

Thank you

Answer:
These two answers to my original question make no sense. The description of this vacuum above clearly states under "Features" that this model has Scroll Noise Reduction. That is item #7. So, it would appear that this model does have the Scroll Noise Reduction feature.

While waiting for an answer, I went ahead and ordered, and received, this vacuum. Based on the amount of noise it makes, or rather doesn't make, I would say that it does indeed have the Scroll Noise Reduction.

It is relatively quiet for such a powerful vacuum. As I intend to use it in public places, that is important to me.

I am rather disappointed in the inaccuracy of the previous answers, and am glad I didn't wait to make a purchasing decision based on their information.

My unit is new so mine has not cracked. That is a shame the replacement hose does not package into the side since to me that is one of the major advantageous of this unit.
