Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 189 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by So far it's about perfect for what I need So far this product has been fantastic. The blower is fairly strong and gets the job done when i need a blower to clear away saw dust or other light debris when i complete a job at a customers home and need a blower to tidy up. The vacuum is also very strong and works perfect for most every use I've needed it for. I wish that the hose had a convenient place to store it, but I've found that you can loop it around itself a couple times and place the small end inside of the big end. kind of like a lasso, then you just place it over the attachments sicking up from the end. My only concern is that I've noticed the motor unit gets fairly warm/hot when i run it for more than a minute or two. Hopefully this doesn't shorten it's life span because it solves a big need for me with its size and versatility. March 4, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very pleased I am very glad I choose your product it works great. March 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by High Power in a small package! I have had a larger Ridgid Wet/Dry Vac for several years. It is still running strong but was abused while attached to a cement grinder when we installed tile floors in our home. I decided I wanted a smaller Vac so that I could conveniently vacuum the automobiles. WOW! Does it ever vacuum them well - and it is the perfect size to use. I didn't want any of these small vacuums that never get the job done. I found just the right product! March 3, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for household use. Small, powerful, rolls easily (NO TIPPING OVER), power cord ample length and and not deafening loud. This 4 gallon appliance is a pleasure to use. The design is radically different from the typical old style tall canister type, more like a small spaceship. The large rear wheels allow you to tug it around easily. My old vac used to fall over and roar like a wounded beast. The suction is powerful, the power cord is long so no lugging out an extension cord. Tools are easily swapped out and it's a breeze to clean. There's a nifty built in storage for tools at the rear and dedicated area to wind the power cord for storage. There has been some thought in designing the ergonomics. Though it has considerable more hp then my old unit, it's much quieter. I don't use it for wet pick up so can't report on that feature. The construction is high quality and solid. Highly recommended. March 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by VERY convenient. Small but mighty!!! I bought this simply because my larger shop-vac was too big to drag around on my remodeling jobs. I have other Ridgid tools and know they're tough as nails. I didn't need to read any reviews to know this would be a good vac. I've only used it now for a few weeks but it's VERY powerful, and I have no question about durability. Most of the time the carpets will all be removed and replaced, but I leave them down while I paint the walls. I can use the Ridgid shop vac where the walls meet the carpet, and literally paint down to and onto the carpet and not have the brush or roller picking up junk. I seldom even get a carpet fiber on the paint applicator. I'm very glad I made this purchase. $80 doesn't buy much these days, but in this case it's the best $80 I've spent is a VERY long time. Rated 5 out of 5 by Avery strong suction. had no problem with cleaning up demolition on a tile job. Awsome little vacuum. Great size to take on jobs. It gets the job done. March 2, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by So far so good!! Using it for remodel cleanups. Easy to pick-up or pull unit, good suction as well. February 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by perfect for jobs that are not huge has plenty of power and does not take up alot of space and for a man garage its a must ! Perfect not too big .put muffler on in which noise without muffler is not as bad as others but muffler makes a good improvement (which I suggest too anyone is a must for noise)and it hangs perfectly on a hook in the garage out of the way I'm 6'0 and I walk under it without hitting my head on it when it's not in use...also use a ridgid disc sander it has its own dust bag which works fantastic but if you hook it up to the shop vac No attachment needed just plug it in you can sand with out getting any dust in your ice tea ! Answer:
Here are some notes from the manual:
Vacuuming Liquids:
1. When picking up small amounts of liquid the filter may be left in place,
2. When picking up large amounts of liquid we recommend that the filter be removed. If the filter is not removed it will become saturated and misting may appear in the exhaust.
Warning: do not remove the filter cage and float. The float prevents liquid from entering the impeller and damaging the motor. The cage prevents fingers from touching the impeller.
3. When the liquid in the drum reaches a predetermined level, the float mechanism will rise automatically to cut off airflow. You will know that the float has risen because vac airflow ceases and the motor noise will become higher in pitch, due to increased motor speed. When this happens, turn off the vac unplug the power cord, and empty the drum.
4. After using the vac to pick up liquids, the filter must be dried to avoid possible mildew and damage to the filter.

Thank you

Answer:
Absolutely! There must be a foam filter on the unit when vacuuming up liquids to prevent debris from getting in to the impeller.

Answer:
Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

It is encourage using a wet rug and wiping the dust accumulated on the vacuum’s power head rather than washing it directly with water as the water might enter to the motor which will be a safety issue.

Answer:
Unless you are using it as a wet vac make sure to use a clean filter that is properly installed, (it's simple), and if need be wipe down the motor housing with a damp, not wet, cloth with the unit unplugged.

Pressure

If a airwatts are 0.117354 * (CFM) * (inches water), then do I calculate correctly that this model no. WD4070 will lift water 12.9 inches high?

167 watts * (1/0.117354) * (1/110 CFM) = 12.9 inches water

I feel like that number is way too low - I'm sure your product lifts water more than 1 foot high! I may have the calculation wrong or the pressure may be specified another way. What do the units of "G/h" mean?

Thank you for the help.

Answer:
Jacob,
I agree with your calculations, the thing to remember is this is a fan, not a positive displacement pump or vacuum, meaning there is a lot of slip. When you essentially stall the fan, by trying to pull up a column or water, it will start to spin and not pull any more. Now if you allow air to remain flowing in the hose it will draw water or other material along with the moving air in the hose to a much higher height.
