Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product over all only problem is the rubber padding on the wire assembly wore out very quickly and it won't hold the paper. It's designed to hold the back of the sandpaper, but the paper wore it down, rubbed it off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from very poor clip design Used it for one hour and it will no longer hold paper. Very poor design and now it just sits on my shelf since its pretty much useless. I used to like Ridgid but this product has moved me to another manufacturer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worthless...don't buy As many have written here, the front clamp does not hold the sheet. It will slip out without even placing the sander on a surface. I'm sanding air and the front of the sheet will slip out of the clamp. The sander is thus unusable. I've used the sander for maybe 30 hours. I'm extremely disappointed Ridgid.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from After about 20 uses the sandpaper will not stay clipped on the front. Apparently a known defect as numerous people have posted regarding this. Sander function works great it will just not hold paper. KNOWN DESIGN DEFECT. Lots of posts about this on the net. Ridgid has crap products.Had an impact driver and drill. Batteries lasted about a year. Again a KNOWN defect. Lots of posts about the cheap Chinese batteries that come with them. Bought more batteries as I was stuck with the driver and drill. Driver went bad along with a charger and 1 battery within the next year. Threw it all in the trash and bought Makita. 3 years no problems.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sander I have used this sander quite hard over the past few weeks and have had no problems at all. Others mention issues with it holding paper, I have not had any such issues to date. However, I bought this for more detail work so I have not put a heavy grit paper in it. I only intend to use it with finer grit paper. I even hooked it to my Rigid wet vac and sanded a fair amount inside the house. It really controlled the dust! If there is one concern its that it get hot. After 10 mins of constant sanding, the top of the sander get very hot and hard to hold. It only does this when under load. Lifting the sander (don't even have to turn is off allows it to cool. I'm afraid this may impact the long term durability but that remains to be seen. Overall I'm quite pleased.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product performs well but has some issues The sand paper clamps gave out quickly. The sand paper slip out of the clamps easily. Made sand frustrating. The power on and off button in a poor place. I constantly turned the power off while griping the sander. It would be better suited somewhere not on the palm portion of the sander. When the paper stayed on and I did not inadvertently turn the sander off. The sander did a fine job

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Sander - if you make your own Custom Sheets I see a lot of complaints about the clamps that hold the sandpaper. My clamps are very strong and they work great. I like the design. The problem is a standard 1/4 sheet is only 5.5 inches long. Therefore the paper is barely long enough to get the paper under the clamp, leaving you about 1/4 inch to divide on each side. It is very, very frustrating to try and divide about 1/4" (1/8" on each side) to allow at least some paper under the clamp. I resolved this problem by cutting my own sheets 4.5 x 6 inches. I even like to make it 6.25 inches which gives you plenty of length. DUST: You can punch holes by using the paper punch template included or a standard paper puncher which allows more dust to pull through to the dust collector bag. You can also connect a vacuum hose to the sander by removing the bag. This is a strong work horse with a frustrating paper (clamp) issue. Make these adjustments and you have a great tool I wore out my runner pad, but easily ordered three replacements to have on hand. If Ridgid make a longer sheet for this sander I would sure like to know where to get them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Front clip will no longer hold sand paper After four furniture sanding jobs (flat sutfaces only with this tool) the front clip no longer holds paper finer than 80 grit. I figure the front clip is worn from sanding in four steps using a rough grit for quite a bit of the work. 1) used 60 grit, 2) used 120 grit, 3) used 180 grit, 4) used 220 grit. I will register this tool tomorrow and see if Rigid will repair it.

replacement 1/4 sheet sandpaper with holes

Where can I purchase replacement 1/4 sheet hook & loop sandpaper with the holes already punched into them for my Ridgid sander? If you no longer make them with the holes already in them, where do I get the hole puncher?
Asked by: stevep
This sander doesn't use hook & loop sandpaper. Just get full sheets and cut them into 1/4 sheets. The sander comes with a hole punch. Just put the paper on the sander then attach the hole punch and your set.
