I did not know you could wash these filters is there a procedure that Ridgid recommends?

Wondering how you wash these properly.

Here you go: Cleaning a Dry Filter NOTE: For best cleaning results due to accumulated dust, clean the filter in an open area. Cleaning SHOULD be done outdoors and not in the living quarters. 1. Remove filter from Vac. Gently tap filter against the inside wall of your dust drum. The debris will loosen and fall. 2. For thorough cleaning of dry filter with fine dust (no debris), run water through it as described under "Cleaning a Wet Filter". Cleaning a Wet Filter After filter is removed, run water through the filter from a hose or spigot. Take care that water pressure from the hose is not strong enough to damage filter. Allow filter to dry out before storing. IMPORTANT: After cleaning, check the filter for tears or small holes. Do not use a filter with holes or tears in it. Even a small hole can cause a lot of dust to come out of your Vac. If your filter is worn or damaged, replace it immediately. Allow the filter to dry before reinstalling and storing the Vac.

wet/dry vac WD0970M0

My wet/dry vac is pretty old but I need a fine dust paper filter. Can you tell me will this fit with my old vac? If not, can I vacuum up a small amount of fine dust and then just wash my filter out? your prompt response is greatly appreciated.. Karen Modlin

Hi Karen, The current fine-dust filter, VF5000, can definitely fit RIDGID wet/dry vacuums that are 5 gallons and larger. We also made them to fit even the older models. We really recommend using the fine dust filter for picking up fine dust. The filter is for capturing debris, and using the standard one will allow debris to escape through the blower port. This would cause more mess. For any further questions or concerns you may call customer service at the number above or you may send your email to [email protected] Regards, RIDGID
